I went to Taiwan last week to join a group of local riders for a 3 days 2 night ride around the island. We starter from Taipei and took the costal route around the island anti clockwise covering about 1000km.

Yours truly

WOW! Great pics.

I havn't have a chance to explore "the other side of the mountains" yet. Looks like a wonderful ride.

somehow I missed this. Great shots. I appreciate the post; I've been wondering about the possibility of riding on the island. I expect the east side would be much more to my likeing.

Hmm. I missed this post too. Great pictures.

The east side is near the mountains, but I think the greatest beauty is up in the mountains themselves. I took the Central Cross Island Highway from east to west before it was closed by earthquake damage. It was some of the most beautiful natural scenery I've ever seen. Though that highway remains closed, there are other routes into and across the mountains to explore. (Wikipedia says there is now a New Central Cross Island Highway, but I know nothing about it.)

If you go, you might try for reservations at a government youth hostel in the mountains. These are built in traditional styles and are open to people of all ages now. Another part of the experience that I'll never forget.

I don't imagine there's any possibility of riding a Guzzi, but I'd expect that somebody offers something (probably much smaller and much cheaper) for rent.

These are beautiful pictures...I am sure you had a very enjoyable trip.
