Tank alignment

I put my fuel tank back on and I'm pretty sure I have it on there correctly and securely, however it is not perfectly symmetrical in terms of amount of space in between frame and rear of tank...both height and width gap.

Any cause for concern or should it be more perfectly aligned? 1/4 inch difference or so...

This is common. If it's a fiberglass/plastic tank then people usually ascribe it to the material swelling from ethanol fuel. Often the tank is very difficult to put back on, but it seems you made out on that point.

It's a 2013 v7 with a steel tank. Yea, I refitted it a few times to make sure it was on right and the bolt lines up. I don't think any hose lines are blocking it in a certain way. If the bolt lines up perfectly than it must just be normal.

Hey...same issue...put the tank back on my '09 V7 and it does not quite seem to line up. Also, the bolt at the rear of the tank was about 5mm off from the hole. I've checked to see if there was anything blocking it sliding back on. I've taken tanks off other bikes and have not had such a hard time getting it back on straight. Ideas? Thanks in advance for your help.

If it is a plastic tank, she may have expanded a little. I have the same issue with my 06 1100. Scissors jack and a block of wood gets the rear bolt installed.

The metal tank on my 2013 V7 Stone has been wonky from the start. I recently had it repleced under warranty for this and an issue with the paintwork. The new tank is still not straight. My dealer tried to adjust the mounts on either side of the frame, but my right knee still hits the bulge on the side of the tank, whereas my left knee is clear.

May want to add a spacer/washer (experiment) behind the rubber bushings that hold the tank, they act to tighten the fit. Worked for me though do admit not absolutely perfect (but better than it was). 2009 V7C/Plastic tank.
