After a fairly long ride yesterday in hot (for England) conditions I noticed that the fuel cap was making a noise trying to suck in air. I took the fuel cap off and it was clear that there was an air blockage. I'd noticed toward the end of the ride there was something a bit odd about taking off from stop.
Where should the tank be getting its air from?
Somethings blocked somewhere, is it just the fuel cap it breathes through?
Thanks
Ray

It either breathes through a hole in the cap, or via a vent line.... definitely clogged/pinched, and should be addressed ASAP.

So I had time to pull it all apart. There is a tank breather that comes from under the tank and vents through a pipe that comes out with some other breathers below and behind the gear box.
The breather pipe goes through the tank and via two one way breather valves in the fuel cap should allow the tank to vent as the fuel drops.
They seemed to be working but I removed both of them and it solved the problem.

The pipe that runs from the filler neck, through the tank and out the bottom is a water drain for water that collects round the filler neck. Make sure you keep this clear, or you will end up with water in tank, a load of rusty sludge, soon to be followed by a blocked fuel filter and possibly a trashed fuel pump. The tank itself vents through the cap.
