Early on I noticed that there are two foam bit inside the air snorkel under the seat. Likely for noise reduction. One of the foam pieces was missing. When I got a chance, I pulled the airbox lid and found it laying on top of the air filter.
OK, so I glued it back in place with some spray on contact cement.
Yesterday I had the seat off, and noticed the second one was off. AND, the one I glued was ripped in half. There must be some serious air moving through there at times.

I've reglued them both in place, but to be honest, I can't tell a difference in the sound.

Anyone else have theirs fall out?

Hmmm.

I had my filter out and the two foam pieces came flying out when I opened the top of the air box. I have no idea where they are supposed to go, I thought maybe they were just on top of the filter?

when you find out where they are supposed to be or what they do, I'd be happy to know as well...

They go inside the rubber snorkel. Just looking at it with the seat off you can see the two square places for them to fit.

If you put them back, glue them in good.

I got some paperwork that states " If you have a stalling issue, remove the snorkel " . I took em off of all 8V at the Tappet Service Bulletin work, and they run better, try it !

TAKE IT OUT!!!!!!!!! You will thank me later............

You mean take out the foam or remove the snorkel.

I'll try pulling the snorkel as Steve suggests, but it goes back if the noise is worse. This 8V motor is already a rattle box. Don't need more noise when traveling.

I pulled the entire snorkel. Awesome, it made.......
NO difference.
I didn't even notice an increase in noise. Still had to do a second start when cold. No difference in the power 'hole' around 4500.

I'll likely put it back to keep the big 'chunks' out of the air filter.

Well, by the SOTBD (seat of the butt dyno), there was a pretty good drop in power around 5000 or so.
The snorkel is back on.
