The joys of Moto Guzzi…

I need to get off my dead ass and post pictures, but in my case I reached
a point where I new I was going to kill myself one day with my 84 750 Turbo
show bike. 15 psi of boost was scary, 18 was letting loose the dogs of war, and 20
I wont say anything about. Done my stupidity during the 75th Sturgis Bike Rally
beating a nasty storm home and having my wife just about kill me as to how fast
I got home. The Guzzi bikes are all I need now, power is perfect and the ride is heaven.
Don't want anything else! Haven't lived till you have major Motorcycle gangs getting the
hell out of your way! Long live Guzzi...

And I will be honest, 157mph on I-90, speed limit 75mph.
Yes, I was an idiot and lucky to be here.

Very nice!!
In the mid 80’s I drove to work every day on the German Autobahn pedal to the metal 165mph..
Today it would be suicidal doing that... good old days...

Now, if Peter says that he rode that bad girl all the way up the Alaska Highway to the Arctic Circle, then I'm going to have a retro-active heart attack and more than a few herniated discs in my back! :D
Remember - He is already in British Columbia AND if he lives in Northern BC - he practically there :D !!!

( Yes Yes - a Year and a half late and dollar short :) )

Well actually I live in Burnaby , which is barely 20 miles from the Washington state border . But it's first real road test was to Terrace with my wife in 08 about 2 months after I licenced it . It's way more comfortable than it appears ( hey , I'm now 72, and comfort wasn't an after thought when I built it) . I may have mentioned it earlier , but a ride to an Oregon rally tallied up 750km in a single days ride, and less than 2 hours of interstate . Oh yeah I was some beat when I arrived!

Reading through this thread now has me wanting a Moto Guzzi California Touring, what an absolutely stunning motorcycle.

I too have a love hate relationshp with Harley's since the early 1980's. I started off with a 1981 AMF Sportster. Everyone enjoyed dumping on AMF during this time, but the bike I had ran fine for the time. I then bought a new 1985 FXST Softail. It had a 4 speed transmission, chain drive and the engine was solid mounted in the frame, so to say the bike vibrated some would be an understatement. I had to replace the speedometer three times due to vibrating itself to death. I brought along a set of tools to tighten things up on long rides. I kept the bike until a few years ago when I took a break from riding to address some nagging health issues. When I was ready to get back riding I had to decide what bike to get. Harleys were out for a variety of reasons. One is the cost, even used. Also when I first bought my Harley, they were still not many around. Today I can't go more than a mile without seeing a bunch. And they all look like clones of each other. I needed to find a unique looking motorcycle and settled on Moto Guzzi. Even in San Diego you don't see many of these on the road. It was nice to ride a bike that wouldn't vibrate itself to death. Its also a great converstion starter when you pull up somewhere with other bikes. So best of luck to Harley, but I've decided to go down a different path.
