Well I (foolishly) pulled off the airbox and the throttle body assembly for cleaning (the bike had been stored near the ocean).

Putting the throttle assembly back on was quite a trial as the inlet ports are angled, however, I found that putting the left hand side on first did help a little.

Then came the infamous air box. Well I had all sorts of strife to get the inlet ports of the throttle bodies connected sinc they too were on an angle.

After many incantations and cups of brew, I gave up for the night. That night I thought "Why don't I try lubricating the joints with a liquid I happened to have for lubricating wiring sleeves.

Next day, I lubricated said joint between the airbox and the throttle bodies, just a little on the finger, an lo and behold, the rubber fittings just slid on.

Now the magic fluid does not affect rubber or plastic and is available from two sources that I know of:- Radio Spares, Cat No. 625-0001 @ A$11.42 + GST (248ml plastic bottle)
Element 14, Cat No. 101-619 @ A$17.56 + GST (284ml plastic bottle)

For those who do not have access to these places, the product is: Hellerine Grade M
Manufactured by HellermanTyton and most likely available at some electrical wholesalers.

Hope this helps someone.

Cheers
Brian  :) :D
