Throttle body ballance

Twice now I've had the throttle bodies balanced and the TPS reset but the engine still seems out of balance, OK at higher speeds but on pulling away it can really shake is that normal on a Griso 1100 07 I'm not sure that they closed the bypass screws when they done the balancing could that cause the shaking ? and snachy acceleration when in a slow moving traffic jam ?

Re: Noisy gear box /Throttle body ballance

Low RPM may shake a little due to the firing sequence of a V twin, but shouldn't be extreme. If you aren't sure who you took the bike to did it correctly, with a few tools, it isn't hard to do it yourself. Read the VDSTS thread on this forum and see about give it it a go yourself.

Re: Noisy gear box /Throttle body ballance

Go for it! You not only learn to tune your own bike but you'll be more in tune with your bike. :pinch:

I don't trust a mechanic unless I know he's a guzzista. The local dealer already screwed up my buddy's idle set screw. Long/short the mechanic was let go for an undiscloesed reason - the dealer did correct the problem but said that someone on the street must have tampered with the screw. :?:

The snatchy acceleration is from the too lean fuel mixture. There are several ways to address this discussed else where on the forum. IMO, for casual riding (not racing), the GT O2 Optimizer smooths out the low end acceleration quite a bit for the relative little cost.

I've had a look but could you direct me to the "give it it a go yourself" bit and the VDSTS bit , Ta.

Here the VDSTS thread https://www.guzzitech.com/forum/160/1676.html With VDSTS and a tool to measure vacuum in the TBs (such as twin max or liquid manometer, like carb sticks) you can do it yourself. Also sync procedure is in the Breva 1100 general service manual in the downloads section. Procedure is the same for all the CARC bikes.

Re: Noisy gear box /Throttle body ballance

I might be in a minority here but my view is that on the G11, and particularly the earlier ones the problem lies more in slack through the transmission. My '06 was piggin awful when I first got it (s/hand with 1500 miles on it) real racket when hooking gear and pulling away. Dreadful driveline shunt at low speeds. Work done to reduce all this this:

- Remove slack from throttle cables
- Warranty/recall CARC reshim
- Breva Silentbloc bush fitted on CARC toque arm (cheap too)
- Throttle body resets and the like
- And it does get better with miles (somewhere over 9k miles now)

Re: Noisy gear box /Throttle body ballance

Thanks for the info, I think ! but I don't think its the carc that makes the noise but the play in the gearbox, probably between the drive dogs , mind you it does seem to be getting better miles.
