Hello All:

A few weeks ago, I was on a short trip and experienced some drivability issues with my 02 Stone. I put the symptoms out there and the concensus was (probably) TPS.
I research the procedures to set TPS settings, and balancing the throttle bodies. O.K. I set my valves, actually checked 'em, they were spot on. I do an initial adjustment of the TPS itself @ 150 mv and then set the r/side 2.5mm idle adjustment screw @ 520 mv. I fire it up to balance out the throttle bodies, and notice I have a popping in the intake portion and popping out the pipes on deceleration. I reset-rechecked the mv. readings, they are good. I have backed out the air bleed screws, 1/4 to 1/2 ( depends on who I read ) turns to no real avail.
These symptoms weren't manifest until I began using my ape like paws to fool with system.
I think I will run down to the Harley dealer and pick up a TPS, I have the model # written down somewhere, and see if my TPS is just toast.
As far as the actual balance of the throttle bodies goes, do I:
1) back the air bleed screws out 1/4 to 1/2 turn from seated
2) start the engine, and use these screws to balance at idle and then
3) move to the L/side and balance with the 7mm hex head bolt @ 2500 +/- rpm ?

OR:
am I just so incredibly lame that this is beyond my monkey brain, I should give the machine away and take up stamp collecting. ( hyperbole )

ANY suggestions or insight would be appreciated. ( I don't really want to collect stamps )

Thanks

kjf

The high speed sync should be done first. Also on the Stone, you have idle stop adjustment on both sides. Once you get the high speed sync complete with the air bypass screws at the same opening (1/2 turn), use the throttle stop screw on the right to get the idle sync. Only adjust the air bypass screws for fine adjustment or to raise or lower the idle speed a little.
