update on Canadian Stelvio recall

Have been away so just took the Stelvio over to the dealer yesterday for the recall on cam and follower replacements. A few points of interest.

-Dealership manager said they had got notice early in the year on the recall but were given the American serial number series rather than the Canadian series to check against. In the American #'s digits 8,9, and 10 are 069. In the Canadian series they are 029. Thus they thought the two bikes they had in stock were O.K. They only found out after sending my serial number back to the Guzzi distributor in eastern Canada via their computer portal of the problem.

-The dealership ordered up the parts for the recall a week ago but are missing the cams at this point.

-Pete, I took your advise and told them if there is wear to any degree that I wanted the lubrication oil pump removed and inspected. They were fine with that.

-Also requested to see all removed parts and wanted the removed oil filter so I could check it for particulate. Service manager said that he had already planned on doing that and would save it for me.

-The service manager did go over the 17 page recall notice/ procedure to correct from MG. I had already seen the document.

I use to drag race a 55 Chev in the NHRA and had a very simple way to open and inspect oil filters to determine engine condition/wear. If people are interested in the method will post it.
