Is it possible for me to adjust the idle speed on my V100,or is it a dealer job? I would like to lower the idle to maybe 1200 rpm,as I think this might ease the clunk when changing into first gear.

After a while it may start to feel reassuring that the gear was engaged rather than a possible impact damage of a component. My V7 of 50 years ago had the same "character" feature and it gave me well over 60,000 miles and a lot of gear changes.
