Hi all,

I am working on a deal to pick up a V100S this week and was wondering what type of deals current owners got. This is for a 2023 "new" one that weirdly has about 200 miles on it but dealer is still listing it as new.

I am located in the USA.

Not that this is related but Guzzi requires that demo bikes be kept in that status until 200 miles, at which time they can be sold.

Whatever you end up doing, it behooves you to tread lightly.

There is not a lot of profit in a motorcycle. This is a fact.

Given the limited number of dealers and the absolute certainty that you will need your dealer on various occasions, then to me, the last thing I want to be branded as, is a cheap-ass chiseler. That will haunt you and put a damper on your relationship forever.

In my dealership and motorcycle workshop days, although I provided excellent service to everyone, I would go out of my way and put in extra effort on my full paying customers in everything they needed.

In the industry, we call those type of people, “players”. Wise dealerships, protect and provide for their “players”. They are the backbone of the operations.

‘Danny “give me a discount” dudes’, we humor them but do not do anything but the minimum. I certainly would not provide the level of service and effort that I put out for a “player”.

This is how the real world works.

As I have been on the buying side of this arrangement many times, I always weigh this carefully.

When you buy a motorcycle, you are actually purchasing much more than just a bike. You are showing your true colors from the get go. Dealership personnel notice this and never forget it.

Point to ponder.

Good luck!

Take a look on Cycle Trader and see what similar bikes are selling for in your approximate area.
I see new 2023 S models listed from between $1500 to $500 off, with many dealers showing MSRP.
The one you are looking at sounds like it was a demo, so of course, that might factor in the price as well.
There are a few used ones for sale also, some with very low miles. I'd be asking to see if there have been any issues with the private sale bikes with low mileage. There may be logical reasons for selling a bike so soon, or they may have had problems.

It’s always both strange and interesting why people trade back bikes so soon.
To start with there is the warranty, so mostly no need to be worried.
A “Monday manufactured” lemon might be something, but honestly there seems to be almost none lemon out there.
But what might be a reason is that many people ordered the bike either without even seeing one live, or at least not had a test drive.
Then some people might not liked the ergonomics or whatever, that I can see as reason for early trade in.

I'm on my 4th bike since 2018, which is when I started riding. It took me a while to figure out I wasn't a cruiser guy even though I prefer their looks. Test rides may tell you that a bike just doesn't work for you at all, but most of the time you need more time to really dial in what you want. The v100 hits most of my sweet spots but there's still part of me thinking, you know that bmw 1250r looks good... or man I really wish I'd tried the xdiavel or Rocket 3. Also kinda really like the Fjr 1300

Whoever bought my old bikes made out like bandits, I'm don't beat the crap out of my bikes and maintenance was always done early.

My days of lying on a tank while riding a bike are well past. I like a degree of comfort and I find the V100 to be pretty comfortable even after 300 plus miles on crappy English roads.

For my body type\height they nailed the riding position pretty good. My Indian Scout would kill my back and tailbone after 45 minutes... It had to go.

I think I am just a little too tall for the V100S for my use case which is a third bike for putting a lot of miles on. On a short ride I got the same stress in my hip flexors I get on my Speed Twin 1200. I sat on a V85TT and it felt so much more comfortable and although I don't like the way it looks quite as much, it still has that Moto Guzzi charm. Plus it's about 4k less expensive right now. Probably going to go that way.

The V85TT is an awesome motorcycle. Several of my friends ride them and after riding with many of them over extended distances, I have been fully impressed at what great bikes they are!

Good Luck!

There's a "touring" OEM screen which I have which is better than the standard but still not perfect. I'm looking at various after market options but yet to decide which I'm going to go for. I'm 6 ft but with long back and short legs so tend to be higher when sitting. My short list ( pardon the pun) is currently CalSci and Givi. From a cosmetic point of view the original shorter screen is the best but hellish noisy for me.

On my V100 I find that the stock shield worked the best in the mid position. I got a used Biondi from a guy that is a few inches taller. It is also better in the mid position. I am guessing they are both better at this position is because the space at the bottom of the shield is the largest letting more air reducing the amount of vacuum. I don't know if I have described this very well.

My experience with the rider triangle and windscreens....

Firstly, I needed to expand the rider triangle, added peg lowering kit, it helped, and the stock screen was great in the upper position. But I needed more room so added the OEM taller seat. Butt was nice and warm on the winter rides (;)) and the triangle fit was great (added Rox risers at the same time) but now I was experiencing noise and buffeting from the extra height. Added adjustable lip to the stock screen, fiddle arsed with the height & angle, but it was not satisfactory, less buffeting but very noisy. Put on the Givi three weeks ago, better...but I'm still not satisfied with the noise. The screen is at the max, anything else and it is dismal - huge buffeting, worse than the stocker+lip especially on windy days.

I ran a CalSci for years on a Honda ST1300, it was brilliant. Had I spotted that before seeing the Givi I would have bought it first ...which is likely to be my next step if I can't find a sweet spot for the Givi. As for the vent in the CalSci screens ---some think it BS, I think it worked on the Honda and hope it would work again if (when) I buy it for the V100.
