My V35 Imola has the standard 26mm DellOrto square slide carbs and it doesnt carburate very well. It starts easily, idles smoothly and the top end of the throttle range is fine, but the mid range feels fluffy and rich. I figure its a needle issue, but I’ve tried the clip in the top groove but its still fluffy. I did wonder if the needle and seat are worn, though It’s only got 25,000km on it. One of the needles looks a bit like its been coroded at some time.
I thought i might try to track down a replacement needle and needle jet (atomiser). The manual specifies an E27 needle, and a 260 AH atomiser, but I know some Imolas have E26 needles which are a tad leaner, according to:

Not sure it makes any difference but I’m in Australia, and my bike was imported from Japan about four yeats ago.
Has anyone had any experience messing about these square-slide carbs ? Are they prone to wear ? Any suggestions ?
Cheers

I've worked with square slide 30s some. The range you are having trouble with is mostly controlled by the needle and atomizer. Try the E26 needles starting in the middle position. You can make fine adjustments from there. Since one needle looks like there may be some corrosion, it may have abraded that atomizer giving it a larger diameter. Replacing the atomizers wouldn't hurt even though they shouldn't be worn with the kilometers ridden.

Any suggestions as to where an E26 needle might be found ? I've tried the local Euro specialists, and the websites of various places and the E26 seems to be a rare thing.
Anyone know a place that specializes in this kind of thing ?
Thanks,
Martin
