Looking for some guidance on the dreaded (potential) stretched valve issue on my V65...
My cylinder head gaskets have been weeping quite a lot of oil so it's time to replace them. Given the possibility of the dreaded "valve stretch" that can result in dropped valve heads and the subsequent damage that can create, I'm looking to future proof the cylinder heads during the gasket replacement process.
I have read that the valve springs on the V65 required too much tension to work which resulted in stretched valves which could eventually drop their heads creating damage. Supposedly a common upgrade was using the later Breva 750 single valve spring set up which alleviated the issues. Does anyone know the part numbers for the single spring set up?
Does anyone have any experience of this upgrade as I'd like to future-proof my bike whilst replacing the head gaskets.
Also, if I replace the existing valves with new ones, as a precaution assuming they are somewhat stretched, is it simply a matter of performing a lapping job to seat the new units, or does it require a valve seat cutting job to ensure correct seating?
Thanks in advance!
