Just curious as to what the first 1000km service ran for everyone.

I did the first service myself. These bikes are easy to work on, and you should consider doing your own work.

As I recall, the first service is changing the oil for the engine, transmission, and final drive. Also torquing the head bolts, and possibly checking the valves. The transverse V-twin and "old school" design makes doing the valves and bolts simple tasks.

Once you get into doing the service, you'll find some tricks. Trick of the day - when doing the valves, grease the engine side of the gasket surface. Use brake cleaner to clean and dry the gasket surface of the valve cover. Then for the next service, the gasket comes off the engine easily and in one piece, and stays attached to the valve cover. You can re-use the gasket almost endlessly.

Don't know. Left the bike at the shop and picked it up later. 1:st service free of cost, which probably mean it was on top of the total cost.

As Christiaan; have done them myself ever after.

Thanks for all the good advice. I plan on having my local dealer do the first service and than I'll do future ones.
Just wanted them to check and make sure everything is looking good and that the fuel injection is properly balanced.
The shop manual says it's a 3 hr service. We'll see.

My first service at dealer cost $250 at a 1000miles. Then I went for oil filter and salesman insulted me saying ,you do it yourself and break it and will will fix it!! Come on its just a basic oil change.
