An acquaintance is considering a V7 Classic and has a concern about seat height and his height. The seat height is 31 1/2" and he is 5'6". He 's been riding decades but says he insists on two feet flat on the ground. Do any of you know if the seat can be cut down without sitting on the pan. I know on my Jackal even stock you could feel the seat pan. He says he's more comfortable at 30"-30 1/2".

Send our best to Shorty, and tell him that the OEM-seat is as hard as a brick as is, as far as I'm told.
Talking about as.... :D
Cutting it down may not ease the pains.

Well if he does not do 2 up riding and the dealer has a cafe or someone he knows just put the Cafe seat on a V7C and see if that will make a difference, I did and it seems to sit a little lower but I am 6'3" so really can't say if it will flat foot your friend. Is more comfy and looks better to boot. BTW a direct snap off snap on replacement.

Hi

I'm about 5' 8" and 28" inside leg and I've not had a problem with the seat height, and I like both feet on the ground. Has he actually sat on the bike to see how it feels to him?

Regards, Paxo

I'm a shorty, too, at 5´7´´ and I did not have any problems with the V7C when I rode it. If feels very much like the B750. Though he will probably not flat foot the bike, he will have solid grip on the balls of his feet. It's no big deal at all.

Thanks all. I forwarded your reply's and he emailed me that he has going to the dealer and see if they have one to sit on.

I am about 5 ft 7" on a good day with a 30" inseam. I have the stock seat on my V7C and have no problem touching the ground at a standstill. I did sit on a V7C that had the optional single seat installed. The seat was somewhat softer and allowed me to sink in to it more than the stock one. I found the single seat to be more comfortable on my boney arse and may opt for one by next spring.
Hope that helps, Max

I'm a shorty too, and I put shorter shocks on (Moto International did it). As a result I could get both feet flat on the ground and still have some knee flex left. It made it much easier for paddling about in confined spaces. The stockers were fine, but just a little too high for me to be 100% confident.

IMHO, the V7C is an great bike for a shorty, and will a little fettling you can make it perfect.

Gaston Rahier(2x Dakar winner) was 5' and never seemed to have a problem with the seat hight on his bikes....

I am 5'9'' with a 30 inch in-seam and shrinking everyday from old age  I have no problem flat-footing my V7C. I have found with a sheep skin seat pad the stock seat is comfortable on long rides. I try to go 100 miles in between stops
