V7 fuel level sensor

I want to adjust my fuel level sensor further down because it comes on way too early.

I need a picture of what this thing looks like. Last time I was in the tank and had the pump removed for the job to replace that stupid half plastic filter, I could not figure out what part was the low level sensor, let alone figure out how to move it down.

I read someplace that someone moved it down one hole or something like that. Well when I was in there I did not see anything that could have been moved down one hole, or missed the ID all together.

Picture/drawing of this little jewel would be greatly appreciated.
 
Fuel level sensor is #5 upper left corner.

This is what it looked like on my 2012. the sensor is mounted to the rod and held in place by two screws.

Here it is without the tie wrap:

The first time I lowered it, I simply removed the screws and then secured it lower with only one screw:

That didn't seem to make much difference. So I spun it around and used a washer to help lock it in place:

I got panicky with it so low (the light never came on), so I went back to this:

On my new bike, MG used rivets instead of screws, so I haven't tried anything yet.

So you had to go back and forth with this thing a few times.

I can't remember when I had that all out, if it had screws or rivets, but then I didn't really know what the heck I was looking at or for anyway.

My light's coming on at like 168 miles or so and the bike runs out at well over 250. I end up with the low fuel light on for so long I can almost forget about it.

There was one more thing you did (that you mentioned in another thread). You moved the thermistor so that it sat just below the fuel filter. This prevented you from knocking the thermistor against the tank when inserting the pump assembly. You broke one thermistor that way. You mentioned that when the light comes on, you need 4.7 gallons of fuel to fill the tank.
 
Yeah, that was a project i got real tired of. BTW, there is about half a gallon of unusable fuel in the tank. I completely drained the tank and then added fuel until I could hear the fuel pump working.
 
Sounds like you broke some ground on this fuel system. 1/2 a gallon is probably common with these EFI systems. Gold Wings ran a fuel pump for years external from the tank and did it with a pet cock. I don't like these internal pumps and no pet cocks. Waste of trapped fuel and wasted space with all that crap inside the tank. It turns a 6 gallon tank into a 5 gallon tank.
