V85tt fork oil change- special tools needed?

The V85tt service station manual (version "2Q000400") says the fork oil ought to be changed at 24,000 miles. Has anybody done this at home? I've done fork seals on other motorcycles and it's not that hard a job but I'm leery about doing it on this bike.

I see on page 96 that there's a special tool used to compress the fork spring. My experience says sometimes there's an easy work around but sometimes you really need to have that tool. Comments?

And there may be other steps of the procedure where it's not easy to get around having the special tools.
 
Hi Jimmy, From what I see in the manual, having the special tools would make it easier, and an assistant is necessary. That said, in my experience purchasing the special tool(s) has always made the job easier. I probably have a couple thousand dollars (or more) of special tools and they sure make the job much easier. You may find the cost of the special tool, is less than having the job performed at a dealer. I started working on Guzzis for myself and others as in my area as there just aren't any dealers nearby.
