Roblatt
High Miler
We just had the labour day long weekend here in Vic. It was great weather for riding so a few friends and I went up the Alpine Road for 3 days. No longer threat of bushfires we headed to Bright, a town in the Alps founded during the gold rush (that's how most small towns were founded I think.
Anyway, going up the south side of the ranges was a series of sweepers which brought a tear to my eye each time the boss hit me for going too fast (yes I was pulled over for speeding but just gave me a warning - must've been the sexy bike). Coppers were everywhere. And she didn't let me forget it all weekend.
Once at the summit, Mt Hotham, the views were spectacular. The mountain is 1861m high but the road only gets to 1450m.
Funny thing. Coming down the north side, there were no police patrols. Must be because it is very twisty with most corners being no more than 30kmp/h. 58km of pure twist with a rather steep descent. Again this brought tears to my eyes each time the boss slide forward and crushed my "you know what"s" against the tank. I'm sure bikes are designed for women, otherwise there'd be a comfort cavity on that part of the tank.
Anyway, 2.25 hours for 58km. Grueling but fun.
Here are some pics.
My friends and I at Omeo, on the way up.
