Hey all, Happy Turkey Day (in the States)

Thinking about culling the herd a bit. I would like to ask a fair price for a bike but don't have a good idea of what it's worth.

I figure that if ANYONE in the world would know the market today it's YOU. So let's do a study:

If you would respond to this post with your opinion of the value of this bike, I'll combine all the estimates and establish the average. I'll then post the bike for sale and see what happens at that price.

Whadia think?

Here's the motorcycle in question:

1980 Moto Guzzi V1000 G5 LAPD Special.
40K Miles.
Harper solo seat (very comfy) and the dreaded dual seat.
White bags and a set of black bags
Delortto 32PHF
I am the original owner. I bought this bike from a shop in Oklahoma with 10 miles on it. It had never been registered. I went through the entire machine, replaced anything made of rubber, sourced the missing parts, had it painted ($2K) made two sets of bags (Calafia style) put my Eldo windshield on it and viola! There she is.

Runs strong, slight weep at the shift shaft, I get constant (positive) comments from folks wherever it goes. Also, with the white bags on, crappy drivers around me often do a double take thinking it's a police cruiser... this probably has saved me from getting run off the road multiple times...

Quetions, comments, turkey drumsticks... send 'em.

Thanks

Alex

Whew this thing is dead eh? Not even the fanatics give a hoot about the mighty G5.
I wonder if this model will go the way of the '32 Ford...

Alex, you've done nice work on it. Tough to value it. I'd say going value would be around $3k+ (at the bottom of the range), and I'd imagine if someone were looking, yours is worth considerably more. Too bad you missed our Ozzie friend Waz while he was here riding stateside... He would've taken it home I bet.

hmmm deliveing it to another country might be a nice ride...

So far we are between 3+ and 5K dollars... that's about $4.5K or so average.

I think the model isn't famous enough. Maybe focusing on the police distictions might be helpfull? I've been looking for an Italian siren to put on...

Thanks

Alex

hehehe I figure if I get up to about 900 MPH I could skip to at least Greenland...

Isn' that what High Floatation Tires are for?

hehheh

Alex

OHHHHHH so the figure is around $3,800 US or so...
Thanks for the notes.
