What’s this plug and should it be open to the elements.

I’ve just got a new V100s and when I look down from above the handlebars on the left hand side just above the radiator cap there is this plug open to the elements (see photo) does anyone know what it’s for and should it be there. I washed my bike for the first time yesterday and it definitely got wet. I’m a bit concerned. 🤔

I can't see a white connector in that position on my bike but it may be the from the left hand O2 sensor or left hand front indicator. On second thoughts it won't be the O2 sensor cable, that has four cables not two.

Thanks for looking, hopefully someone on the forum will be able to help. I’m going to try and see where the wires go tomorrow.

I had a good dig around on mine, I thought it could go to the winglets, mine is tucked away. I had another look in the daylight and it goes to 2 very thin black wires which head off towards the front lights. Its not the lights as its too thin, could be a air temp sensor.

I have it and pulled it out a bit so you could see it.

Connector

... and from the wiring diagram....

...Kevin NZ nailed it. It connects to the ambient air sensor mounted on the fairing below the L headlight. The wire colors B/V are blue/green and Ro is pink and the index shows - 4 AMBIENT AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR.

No worries. Enjoy your new ride and welcome to this site.

Thanks everyone for identifying the wire / plug socket for me. I’ll get it tucked up out of the way. I hope your having as much fun as I am with your Guzzi’s.😄

Motorcycles by their very nature expose a lot of wires and connectors to the elements. That has never been the problem for any issue I've ever had. I did have a chassis short once. frame wore right through the wiring insulation. NOT WEATHER RELATED. (and not a Guzzi for anyone worried. It was 1977 on a Honda.)
