What do you keep in your "Glovebox"?

I was hoping to keep my ray-Bans in it but have visions of burning my nose when I put them on  so apart from a small cloth to wipe my visor and the screen it seems to me that the glovebox is too hot to keep anything in!

Any suggestions?

Registration and proof of insurance.

And, of course, gloves.

Rain covers for my boots and gloves.

I'm thinking it should be a rain cover for the speedo sensor instead...

Hi Gang

I put my Tom Tom in there when I park up ;)

I do wish it was extra petrol storage though.

How to improve the Stelvio: Fit it with a 25 gallon tank :D

Fuel list, pen, a soft cloth, keys to my weekend cottage and to my fathers house.
Think the box is to small, hot and wet...

I keep :-

Cable Ties - very useful in the event of an off.
Rubber Bands made from old Inner Tubes - you never know?!
Spare Ear Plugs
Aprilia Breadown Cover Documentation - nuff said.
Quite a bit of water - not on purpose!?!
A letter to Moto Guzzi asking why they have wasted this space that could have been far better put to use as an extra 3 or 4 litres of fuel tank!!!

Has anyone found a way to stop the flimsy glovebox cover acting as an 'air scoop' at over 80 mph? I have looked and looked, dismantled it, reassembled it, but it is all so placticky that I cant adjust it to lose that 1/4" movement at speed.

Maybe if I could get a big inner tube of a lorry I could make an uber-rubber band that goes right around the tank????? Hhhmmmm!!!!

I've settled on a small towel to wipe my visor

As the temperature here is often 30C I just cant see anything else (even a pen) surviving in there.

Pity as I thought it was cool and the remote release means they actually thought about it... A bigger tank would have been a better option though, if they could have bumped it 5-6 litres it would have given it a big sales edge on the R1200GS...even though a lot of them don't go further than the nearest shopping mall.

Just a thought, perhaps the wet weight would have been against a bigger tank

I would have happily accepted the extra wet weight in order to get a better range!

Anyone tried lining the gloxebox ( i guess on the outside) with self adheshive reflective aluminium tape to limit the heat rise.

I'm thinking it may be good place for my ipod once I get the Autocom fitted.

Heck of a job (for me) and I wouldn't trust the temp not to cook anything delicate like an iPod even with the heat tape.

 Perhaps we could get one of the after market manufacturers to look in the forums and consider making a big tank, even if only 25% of owners bought one it would pay off...I think :?

Since I have loaded the latest ECM fuel map the engine runs that much cooler I can even notice the diffrence in the Glovebox temp. Previously I would not put my mobile phone in there in fear of it being "nuked". Once I put a few dollars in there for fuel stops and they came out crispy. Now even after a long ride on a hot (35C) day its actually ambient temp in there. I cant believe it....seriously, no problem at all and it was a big issue before.
