What does the average Guzzist do for a living?

I drive a truck, mainly delivering to the General Motors plant at Luton UK, so you can see I`m not going to be too busy in the near future. But I have a cunning plan!

I'm a "meat servo"

It's a 750HP PT6A-34 that replaces the 600HP geared-prop R1340. No longer afraid to venture over land waiting for a cylinder to fly through the cowling. Fantastic engines, those PT6's.

This is one of the ones I fly for Harbour Air out of Vancouver BC, mainly back & forth to Victoria and Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. The floatplane outfit in Seattle is Kenmore Air. HA operates 18 Turbo Otters & about 6 Beavers. Kenmore has about 6 Otters and about 10 Beavers (2 Turbo Beavers) as well as a 2-3 Caravans, a couple Cessna 180's and 2-3 Super Cubs.

Wheel planes are boring. Well, OK ...................... maybe not a Sukhoi SU-31:

Is that a turbine conversion on a DeHavilland Beaver? And is that the Harbor Air in Washington?

There clearly is some favouritism in the job department here! :silly:

I was in Vancouver way back in March '79, and remember admiring all those planes in the harbour. Any chance I saw you passing overhead? ;)

I make sailcloth... I think I qualify for "odd profession" status.

I also teach the MSF in the summer... but that's not really a job.

geodoc,

Gotta love that Sukhoi - anything with a radial in it just looks right. One of these days I am going to have to try flying one - but maybe the four seater and not the acrobat.

I'm a retired engineering officer (merchant marine). From time to time I'll do a bit of consulting work for some maritime attorneys. Nobody ever sat on their death bed wishing they'd worked longer or harder.

I have been doing poultry for the past 20yrs, since leaving school. And doing guzzi since the early 2000's.

Guzzi's are such inspreing beasts. wish I could retire and ride forever into the sunset on my Griso.

I work for Shell Oil's largest industrial fluid distributor on the East Coast of the U.S.
It's a great job, as I get to help large manufacturing (BMW, Michelin Tire, Etc) develop
machinery reliability programs, and trouble shoot fluid issues for them. We also distribute a line
of German Stamping fluid here in the States, that allows me to get over to Europe every so often.
It's a pretty good occupation. I had one of my daughter's (4 years old) come into my office a while back. She
picked up a 4oz clear bottle of hydraulic fluid and held it up to the light and said "Look at me Dad... I'm Nanalizing!".
(She was trying to say "Analyzing"). Boy, I live for those moments!

I sell food and foodservice supplies. But at the moment, I don't have enough to keep me busy. At the same time, I can't justify blowing off an afternoon if I want to keep one of the best jobs in the world. Sales are worse than ever and local restaurants are closing.

So, in this crappy economy, I ask that you all do your part. Unchain yourself! Skip Applebees, Chilis, Olive Garden and Outback. Go out to eat at one of your local independent restaurants.

Hospital Engineer at one of the highest rated pediatric hospitals in the U.S.

Locksmith by trade for 20+ years.

I play with computers during the day. And try to keep the boss happy. After that and on weekends I make guzzi exhaust and play with my bikes.

I've been a self employed builder for some 20 yrs and just took on a part time job as building inspector and code official for a local municipality. Currently working on my certification and finishing up so small remodeling jobs.

done loads of jobs, mostly engineering but then joined the fire brigade, and they haven't sacked me yet!

Seismologist for the past 31 years, the same length of time I've had the Lemon. I've worked on 3 continents (taken the Guzzi with me every time), worked with nukes, in arms control, but now retired and work p/time at a small tech in NM.

Worse than either, I suppose, I'm a lawyer. ;)

Retired army judge advocate, now in mufti.

If I hadn't discovered early on that I get motion sick, I'd fly float planes. Lordy, those things are beautiful.
