Kinda cool, but I suspect you could get an 1100 griso, and a 1000cc, deadly fast jap bike for much less than the cost.... If they were around $12K, it would be interesting.... Just depends on what you want, Confederate sells some $100K plus bikes that would struggle to keep up with a v11

If they are 12K, let me know where to send my deposit

Heh, well the new 8V is $14k and change, so you know that $12k won't happen. ;) The motor alone is $8k+ from Italy... and Jon, you know it's not about just going Japanese fast with bikes like this.

This isn't for your average buyer for sure, much like the Confederate and all the other one-off brands.

But then what is it about? What's the point of adding some 30% to a G8V that already has 'enough' power? (that's Bentley style specs ... "enough", or "enough" + 50% with compressor ;) ). The exclusivity and the "because it can be done" factor?

I'd been tempted to suggest a price that'd be whatever an MT01 costs, plus a symbolic little "tax" just for the exclusivity B)

ABSOLUTELY. Power makes one lazy, and Americans are the best at it. You'll hardly ever find a svelte (auto) drag racer here. The U.S. is King of 5,000-6,000 horsepower V8 motors.

A GT-Rx G8V Kompressor will be $27,500+ ;)

Exclusivity... oh you betcha. I live amidst some of the most excessive things you'll see on wheels on any weekend day, in which you'll see one or more of the following;

$110k Nieman Marcus Limited-Edition Confederate Fighter - 45 built:

Desmosedici RR - 1500 built:

$128k MV Agusta F4CC - 99 built:

I think it will cost more then I could justify, but I would pay $16k for a new one. I would even go to Cal. to pick it up.

As we know the stock 8V motor will make 96hp. That is with an abysmal map that goes 'Off the Scale' rich at WFO. I'm still hoping to be able to modify the top of the map sufficiently to get it to run nicely up there with a smooth transition from the CL part of the map, I just haven't had time to collaborate with Brett on it recently.

With that achieved I think 105-110 RWHP should be fairly easily achievable if one is simply chasing power. Having said that unless one plans to rev it harder, (This will mean all sorts of stuff like stronger rods.) top speed will remain the same as the rev limiter cuts in at 235kph. I don't know how often any of you lot travel anywhere holding 140MPH for any length of time but I know I don't.

I'm much more interested in fattening up the bottom end and midrange than I am in outright top speed and HP and while it has often been said that the 8V lacks bottom end grunt it isn't bad in my opinion. It doesn't feel as refined as the 1100 but I don't actually think it is any less punchy, it just feels it. Once again this is something that should be able to be addressed.

Getting back to the original point though? I can't see one! I personally think the Millipercento creation is another hideous 'Neither fish nor Fowl' creation. I reckon its ugly too, but that's me.

Pete

I would venture that atleast part (if not all) the reason the 8v Griso feels weaker in the bottom is that it has more on top and everything is relative. I would be very suprised if it has less power on the bottom, especially after sorting the injection out. It will likely make more power then the 1100 in the end.
As far as the Millepercento Griso, aside from the radiator and pipes it is not much different looking to me. The big draw to me is it is even more rare and has even more power. I will admit that with the advent of the 8v motor the bike loses some of its appeal, though.
But alas, I have an 1100 and it is unlikely I will be buying another bike anytime soon. It is the wifes turn to buy the next bike and she is leaning towards something in the medium sized range.

Well, for heavens sake...don't let Safety Bob see this....we'll all be in big trouble!!!!!

Not really OT, but re: the bottom end: I just read a post by a French guy living in Chili, who thinks the "lack of power down there" actually helps in off-road riding (he took his Stelvio to the Andes - I'm trying to get him to post here)

Not over impressed with the look of BB1.
Incidentlly, would the GT-RX r/s pipe fit the BB1?

Pete, I said the same thing earlier, but then again we're talking about a 132+ rwhp/107+ ft. lbs/ torque, 1420cc 2-valver!
Not discounting the 8V and what it is capable of (and I'll be finding out very soon) power wise, but the Big Bore can easily make upwards of 160 as seen on the MGS-01 they had at Daytona. Now, I'm a less is more guy (always), but not everyone is.

René, for the Stelvio, that holds true about being soft on the bottom, but we're talking about a street "muscle" bike here with the BB1. ;)

rguzz, indeed we would make a GT-Rx R/S to fit.

Not that i am a potential buyer, but could we perhaps see some dyno information to put that power into perspective?

an R1 puts out 156hp at 12k rpm and 75 ft/lbs of torque at about 9500. as with most racing engines, it's all in the top end.

what about this?

Well "they" were Guareschi, and they are very clear in that their engine had little in common with the bigbore you get from millepercento. And the 160 hp engine wasn't running much more than a race, before they needed to take it appart.

BB was developed as a cruiser kit, to mount on several type guzzis, then they taked to guareschi and they got the idea that it could be developed as a race engine, and so Guareschi did. Thye did succesfull a few races, and in between Millepercento made a deal with bigbore. And since Ghezzi wasn't working for Guzzi anymore, Millepercento hired him to build the BB1 bikes.
