Just trying to take my front wheel off for the first time (myself) to take it over for a new tire and realized I don't have anything to fit it. Need to run down and buy a single socket for the axle nut. What size socket is it? I only have an inches caliper and as near as I can do the conversion, it looks like it might be 30 mm.

Also, what are torque values for the axle nut and the caliper bolts going back together?

Thanks in advance,

Michael

30mm is the correct size. I made up some tool kit items to get the front wheel if you needed to while out on the road. Also you will need a 7mm Allen for the caliper bolts. Guzzi sure used some odd ball size there. The service manual is in the downloads section of this web site and it lists the torques Guzzi recommends.

One thing you should know about the caliper bolts. Namely, they often will not come loose easily, to put it mildly, esp the first time. Shattered two Sears 7mm sockets trying to get them off. Took a Snap-on socket to actually do the job. I've heard of others having similar problems, so spend the $ for a high quality tool, & be careful doing it so you don't strip anything. No such big problem with the axle nut, fortunately.
