i noticed this green piece of ??? in the seam between the 2 main carc pieces. it has the texture of a laminated card, and seems to be the edge of something sticking out from inside. (new 2012 griso - about 300 miles in.)

does anyone know what this might be? is it part of some inner seal? (or did giuseppe drop his company id card inside my swingarm?)

any help is much appreciated.

LOL. I saw that too on my Stelvio NTX. It's now dried, but once liquid sealant (Hylomar) that they put between the pieces before assembly (liquid gasket). It is capable of sealing up to 1/100 of an inch gap and the excess is squished out and dries in place. If it bothers you you can remove it, but NOT BY TEARING IT WITH YOUR HANDS as this will pull on the material between the two metal surfaces and can negatively affect the integrity of the seal. Instead, use a very sharp razor blade held at a horizontal angle to the metal, but not touching it, and gently and carefully "shave" off the excess. No big deal either way!

thanks for the reply!...but i'm actually referring to the hard green piece of plastic sticking out (i tried to circle it in the photos) not the sealant (soft black goo).

That's an Italian lottery ticket. They only put them on every 2000th bike made. It's your choice to open it up & see if you got a winner or a loser. I see you still have the "chalk marks " on the bolts. I still gott'em too even after 2000 miles on a Cali, tank stickers too. I like riding, I hate cleaning.

If it's not leaking fluid probably nothing to worry about just keep an eye on it after each ride for awhile. I bought a new Cali and 155 miles out of the dealer the rear unit started leaking where it bolts to the swing arm. No biggie, the o-ring was pinched at the factory. Dealer paid for towing back to the shop $450.00 and then delivered it to me when it was fixed, a 7 plus hour drive from Georgia to Florida. It'll be cool.
