What's It Worth?

Sorry, but however a nice and honest, straight up guy you are ,the buyer won’t know you from Adam or a snake oil salesman.
When it’s our own bike, we take it personally..
But you won’t be selling it to yourself, so be prepared for John Q Public…

Together and running - you’ve got a proposition,
New paint and parts in boxes, it’s a crapshoot !

if it’s ready to go - reassemble it, or get someone to do it…otherwise it *may* still be in those boxes… years from now ;(

Sorry.
Don
One of us is very confused. I’m a buyer, not a seller.

It means you like the bike, you saw value in it when you started this project - So you see all the details and appreciate what’s there so far and that makes it personal to you.

A stranger will not be looking at it through your eyes…

I started this thread because, while looking for an Eldorado 850 project, I found a guy that had a 1973 Eldorado 850 in boxes to sell and I was looking for thoughts from this group on what a fair price might be.

The thread them morphed into this back-and-forth thing where John's feelings have been hurt and I still have no idea what you are talking about.

It doesnt really matter though. I bought it, it's in my garage now, and the process of reassembly/restoration has begun. I did the bars and controls last nite.

This is going to be fun.

Bars and controls old Bars and controls new

I saw it as, you bought a bike,
Now, you want to know if you paid too much,
Or got a deal.

?

Feelings not hurt. I have thick skin. But as GTM suggested, I've been working on these bikes off and on since 1975, so I have a pretty good idea of how they operate and what to look for.

It depends on the condition of the parts - clean with some patina, or rusted and corroded? Police or civilian? Bodywork in original paint or repainted? Original cylinders with chrome-plated bores? How many miles? For reference, I sold a '73 civilian Eldo basketcase with bodywork in all original paint, still had chrome bores, clean with no rust or corrosion for $2500 two years ago.
I like your website you do wonderful work.If you would ever like to move to Pennsylvania I could find you a house somewhere close to my house Err I mean somewhere you would be comfortable.Kept up the wonderful work.😃.

Wow !
ok, I went back are re-read this thread from the start - all the work was done 20 Years ago  or more
Was everything greased up, oiled ( fogging oil ) when I was put on hold ?
Are we taking stored in Arizona or coastal Maine ?

Dont know about fogging oil or such but it was stored indoors and inland Texas. The intakes and exhausts were plugged with rags. The fasteners were bagged and tagged. Overall, it appears that the PO was conscientious when he disassembled and stored the parts.

My V700's been on shelves since 93, I coated new cast iron liners w/ assembly lube, 2 sets. Still all good, I'm on the other motor now. Always in a dry place, all my bodywork has been stripped & not painted.
Sitting apart doesn't hurt anything, all I've noticed is the rocker pins got crudy, don't cost much either.
You will enjoy the work, it'll be sweet when it gets done. I enjoy my daily rider w/fresh motor since 05, it looks like an old bike though.

This was in a baggie labeled “Right front foot peg bracket” but I can’t find it in the parts catalog. Does it look familiar to anyone?
