Wind Buffeting

What are you folks doing to help eliminate or lessen the wind buffeting from the Stelvio Windshield?
I have below in the Store, however I am also getting ready to ship my first larger version from Givi, adaptable to the stock shield but will require drilling holes. Cost will be over $200 for the larger version.

been thinking about this myself but don't want to be drilling the standard screen

I prefer to change the windshield over using something the mounts to the top of the windshield, any thoughts on the California Scientific windshield?

I have mounted the small Wunderlich spoiler on top of my screen. I trimmed 60mm off the top of the screen first. I have tried it in various positions and angles and found it best mounted behind the screen at almost vertical angle. This works pretty well for me but I have noticed a small crack from one of the lower screen mounting holes so I suspect it has put more strain on the screen. IMHO a spoiler is a better option than a new solid screen because you can experiment with different positions/angles. I'm afraid buffeting comes with the territory on adventure bikes. The stock Quota was terrible. Letting air behind the screen seems to be the answer. A spoiler seems to disrupt the airflow well.

I found the tall Givi Screen much better than the cal sci screen, since it has a lip a the top that deflects the wind up and over. In addition I added the X-creen (im 6'3") now I buzz along looking over the screen with a nice pocket of air, visor open. Note; I ride a 2010, new models may be different.

Thanks for the reply, I would like to stay away from spoilers and get a windshield that helps with the buffeting and wind noise if possible.

Thanks, I had not heard of that brand, I will check them out.

Check out Gusafsson Fairings in St Augustine, Florida. He made my custom screen while I waited. I added 3 inches to the top and kicked it out a bit. Works great for me. Some times I think I don't get enough air.

I have been playing with height adjustments on the stock shield and have found a spot that almost eliminates the buffeting I was experiencing.

I have a Cal Sci windshield on my NTX. Huge difference from Stock, no turbulence at all. I have a height that I can either look over the top of the windshield or raise it and look through. I put the stock windshield on to see the difference and then couldn't get it off again fast enough.

Thanks, I will most likely be ordering one soon.

The difference between this and the stock screen appears to be its shorter and has a hole in the bottom. This allows more airflow behind the screen to reduce pressure differential. It would be an easy modification to do to the stock screen with a fine jigsaw.

I remember these snap vents from a Vetter fairings I had on my BMW/5, I wonder if they would help with the buffeting?

I ordered the CalSci windshield. Works great, no buffeting, but the quality is not as good as some others. The curvature didn't match the brackets and the edge was not polished. Plus, make sure which model you are ordering, if you have handguards, get the one with the cutouts. Would I buy it again? yes.

I have the CS screen and it has eliminated all the buffeting issues for me. I'm 5'-11"

I have the cal sci screen and i am 5'-10". i have lots of buffeting, but mine does not look like the one pictured above, mine is a 14 ntx.

i am looking for alternates now.

I didn't like the CalSci much in its stock form, so I trimmed it down about 5" and added this Wonderlich deflector. It's low enough to be well below my sight lines and it still deflects the bugs above my visor pretty well.

BTW, I'm 6'2" , use the seat in the high position and run the screening it's lower positions.

I have the Wunderlich spoiler also and found it best at the same angle as yours but sitting behind the screen. Mine is on the stock screen with 60mm trimmed off the top.

I tried it on the stock screen first, but the spoiler flopped around too much for my liking. The lexan screen isn't a rigid as the acrylic CalSci, especially after I frimmed 5" off the top. I still like the looks of the stock screen best.
