I had this happen once or twice a few months ago. You turn the key to turn it on and nothing happens. The dash doesn't light up. The gauges don't move. Then I turn the bars and try it again and it's fine.

Today I was riding from San Francisco to LA and found myself stopped at a light. When traffic started moving I let off the clutch while on the throttle and it shut off. I pulled to the side and it started but again when I tried to move it shut off.

I was able to push it to a gas station and let it sit before trying again. At one point the dash lit up with things I've never seen before. I feel like there was a 'Reset' and 'Check' that flashed across. But again would not start.

Now when I turn the key back to nothing happening.

The fuses all look good. I have a battery tender USB plug that will charge my phone but the bike won't light up.

Stuck in San Louis Obispo trying to figure out my next move.

There's definitely a short somewhere. It starts up but if I stand it up or turn the wheel it resets or shuts off.

By reset I mean it turns off the the dash and gauges act like when you first start it.

If there is a short, then surely you would have blown at least one fuse. Sounds like you have an intermittent connection somewhere that is affected by the handlebar position. I'd try to check connection blocks around the steering head. You might have to remove the tank to find these.

They had to replace my throttle position sensor a couple months ago. Bike would not start at all, it would turn over but nothing.

There's a multipin connector that plugs in the back of the gauges. I'd start by checking the security of that. Try reseating it a couple times to wipe away any possible corrosion. The harness feeds under the tank to the gauge are looped and strain relieved so it's less likely to be pinched or stretched wiring.

Jesse stopped by today... found that the keyed ignition wires were pulled very tightly around the left side of the steering head of the frame, enough that it pulled one of the two wires on the bottom of the switch loose from it's soldered location when the bars were turned right. A touch of soldering and he's back in action.

That would be something we should all check on our bikes. I had the two bolts that hold my ignition switch back out and one drop out. I'll check that harness for pulling with the bars turn both ways to the stops.

Thanks again for your help with that Todd. Made it back home yesterday and there haven't been any further issues.
