The Mandello Meteor is prepped and loaded and we`re heading out to Bonneville Monday night, Sept 15th. Racing runs Wednesday thru Saturday Sept 16-19 at The World of Speed which is a SCTA sanctioned event hosted by the USFRA. We will be teaming up and pitting with Tom Liberatore, Chief Wrench and Piloto for the very fast yellow V7 Sport Pepperoni Bros Moto Guzzi. Any and all Guzzisti are of course welcomed to drop in for a cool drink if passing thru towards a rally or in the area. We`ll be staying at the Knights Inn in Wendover Utah, 435-665-7744. Weather is predicted to be partly cloudy, dry and in the low 80`s during the day, the salt is currenty dry.

Check out www.saltflats.com for more event and schedule info. After many months our website is now updated with news, pics and we now have T-shirts available for those interested in supporting the effort at www.teamsubtlecrowbar.pitpilot.com

The Meteor will run in the Modified Partial Streamlined Pushrod Gasoline 1000cc class with the same 973cc motor as last year with no internal changes. A borrowed EV rear end from Mark at MG Classics should help with the gearing this year and allow the motor to spin in the sweet spot, around 8300, in 5th, which should get us over 170 mph with alot of luck and good conditions. The current MPS-PG record is 169.2 mph , held by a Buell built in the factory`s Product Development Division.

I`m not sure which class Tom is going to run in yet, but his V7 Sport will be a real threat to the current SCTA 750 cc pushrod records!

Thank You to all that have helped and encouraged us.

Bill @ Team Subtle Crowbar

Thanks Alex ! Nice pic, that was just before our 3rd run of 158 as a rookie which annoyed them a little .. ;) Good luck at Elmo this weekend, we might see you at the World Finals depending on how next week goes. Bill

Update from Team Subtle Crowbar today:
Sorry, Been really busy driving, working, and still unloading and still decontaminating the "heavily" salted equipment!

Three New SCTA Moto Guzzi Records set at the USFRA World of Speed Bonneville!

Tom Liberatore of the Pepperoni Bros set a record with his blazing fast V7 Sport. His average of 2 runs was in the 138 + mph with one of the passes exceeding 140 mph on a unfaired 750 V7Sport on racing gasoline! THAT... is quite an achievement!

The Mandello Meteor set a record in Modified Partial Streamlining Pushrod Gas with a 2 run average of 169.95 with the better of the two runs being 172.63 mph. The old record was 169.20

We pulled off the fairings and re classified the Meteor in the Modified Pushrod Gas class with time running out and set a second record, putting 11.3 mph over the old record of 146.675 mph with a couple passes that averaged 157.980 mph We were pretty euphoric heading back to impound!

It was really nice finally meeting Tom in person and sharing comraderie with a really fine crew and friends. This event looked to pretty much be a wash due to the heavy rains early on, how it dried enough to make for a raceble track still is a mystery to me. It was slick and pretty wild fishtailing the Guzzi off the line! Hope to post more stuff and photos on our website soon, but lots of salt decon and normal job stuff to do first. Special Thanks to our sponsors like MI, MPH, Moto Guzzino, Guzzitech, MG Classics, and the many others and individuals that have supported the Guzzi effort!

Ciao' Bill Ross

Sounds like some nice runs got had by all. I heard it was a fast track this year dispite the lack luster turn out. Can't wait to hear all about it.
