Yet Another Stepper Motor Thread

My idle speed has always been a little inconsistent. A couple of weeks ago it started running high when the bike was warm. It would run at 2k more and more often until it was doing it almost all the time. After reading all the related threads I could find, I decided to disconnect the stepper motor to see if that was the issue. I didn't want to remove the airbox just for a test so I pulled the hose going to the stepper motor from the bottom of the airbox and plugged it and capped the nipple coming out of the airbox. That seems to have fixed my idle speed issue.

One thing that I noticed yesterday on a about 300 mile ride was a little loss of power between 4k and 5k rpm. When I got on the throttle to pass someone or going up a fairly steep hill it felt like it didn't have as much oomph as it did before. Seemed like I had to downshift more than usual. Now it might have been some iffy gas I got, the gas station didn't give me a lot of confidence in its over all quality. We'll be going on another 300 mile or so ride tomorrow and I'll see how it goes.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone else that has plugged or removed the stepper motor noticed anything similar?
