Greetings all,

Recently converted from a Honda NC 700X to V7 Stone in black. Looking to do a few upgrades as well as servicing and tuning myself after the service/warranty period ends.

Few questions if I may..

Is there an online or hardback workshop manual for DIY enthusiasts like me?

Looking for a few upgrades
1) ceramic black exhausts (I don't like the silver as they get dirty) anyone know a ceramic coating specialists in London?I wanted a matte finish

2) knobbly tyres (scrambler look)

3) Tail tidy

I think these are the only mods I am looking at. Any suggestions welcome.

many thanks

Todd has service manuals on here for free download. I did that and then took it to a printing place and had it made into a very nice book.

Todd actually has quite a bit of stuff for the bike. The most valuable of which is an ECU tune (esp. if you get an aftermarket exhaust). You can also check www.af1racing.com. They have a fair selection. There are also several sites in Italy that have no problem shipping anywhere (like Agostini). I can't remember the store in England I used to order from. Maybe a search will turn them up. Outstanding service.

Yes Todd does have a lot. I have done bar end mirrors, air filter, fuel filter, 2 into 1 pipes, Ecu reflash. And 2 up seat kit. Also headlight / gauge lowering bracket.

Ok wonderful, thank you guys.
I am still trying to get my head round this forum. How do I contact Todd? Is that his user name or id? Added a picture of my V7 on my work lift.

Agostini's in Mandello, Stein Dinse in Germany, even places like Gutsibits in the UK. They all speak English, even Gutsibits, though they are northerners. ;)

Hi, welcome to the forum. You can reach Todd direct by email: Todd@guzzitech.com.
I too have been looking at dual sport tires for my V7, they are hard to find in the 18 inch size for the front wheel. So far the Hiedenau scout tire is the only one I can find. Not sure if it will clear the front fender though. I've looked at Pirellis, Michelins, Dunlops, etc... No luck though.

Welcome to the group. Badger.

You will come to deeply respect your V7, just as I have my '04 Breva 750. It has 48,000 km and still going better and better.

That's a good looking work lift. What brand/model is it?

I also suggest looking at what Todd offers for these bikes.
There is a "STORE" link at the top of the page that shows you what he sells standard. Plus, if there is something special or odd that you don't see I recommend you ask him. He may well be able to get it for you.
Things like exhaust, he sells mostly stainless, but I would think if you want a set of mufflers or pipes in black he can do that.

Hi Geezer,

I am loving this bike ..just not the chrome cause its a pig to keep clean in the British weather. The lift is an Eazyriser made and manufactured in Britain. Quite pricey but easy to operate and use. Can be wall mounted to save space. Best investment I ever made. Loads of Youtube videos. I believe I was the first V7 customer hence they had to sort me out a rear footpeg adapter kit.

what do you mean by dual sport tyres? do you mean the button ones/semi offroad?

GUZZI TECH fender eliminator +1 vote from me. Work of art and more tool space.

Black exhaust wrap might be an option?

You might consider the advantages of washing down the bike once a week at least with a hose and sponge. Twins vibrate a fair bit (lumpy things like Guzzis, Ducatis and probably Hardleys:sick: too and need a bit of maintenance/observation to ensure bolts stay tight, check fluids etc.

Just a thought based on many years of riding in shit conditions. Black paint doesn't stop a bike getting dirty ;)

Nice wheels mate, check out the new Guzzi and Ducati scramblers on google and you'll get a few more ideas.

Beers!

Jorge,

you make a very valid point there... the issue is not just keeping the chrome clean but more like the look of black exhaust. Wrap is an option but then they won't cover the mufflers . I want a full matte black exhaust look if I am honest. I like the Ducati scrambler and sat on one at the NEC motorcycle show in Birmingham but it is too short for me and feels like I am sat on toilet seat with its unique seating position. The look I am after is something like this.. but with stock exhaust because I think I will have to lose the rear foot pegs if I went for these after market cones. I also want to keep a double seat. any views?

Found them:

They're in Surrey and have an incredible selection of accessories and parts.

Yep Corsa Italiana.. have purchased the bagster matte tank cover from them as well as the belly pan. They are good but expensive.. postage cost me £10 for the featherlite tank cover which was OTT if I am honest.

Jorge,

one more question... have you got a picture of the GT Fender eliminator kit with the led brake light on your bike? Can you lose the rear mudguard when you fit one of these? Do GT deliver to UK?

I have posted a full set of snaps here.... https://www.guzzitech.com/forums/threads/2014-v7-special-cafe-modifications.14250/#post-101729

in the V7 section and also the V7 registry and picture thread in this same forum (V7-CS).

To answer your other q's you need to buy a rear brake light (I bought one for $20 with integral light for numberplate) and the fender eliminator competely removes the read numberplate. Also you can reuse the stock indicators which keeps the look.

Check out the pics. Fender kit is in the "shop" section (also available on eBay).

How about comparing the Honda NC700 modern water cooled bike with the rather older V7 pushrod heron head? what made you swap?

The NC is an excellent bike at a great value. for day to day commuting you cannot touch this bike on fuel economy, riding position, dual clutch auto transmission and general robustness but... and this is the big but.. I had to sell it and move on for the following reasons.
1) NC 700x was becoming very common. there was not a traffic light in my area where you would stop and get a nod from a courier or a parts delivery guy giving you a nod of appreciation whilst sat on one with a big box on the pillion seat.

2) Cunningly Honda released a 750 version with improved gear changes etc.

3) Chain needs regular maintenance as all chain driven bikes.

4) power top end was not as good.

so.. I wanted something which was a bit more exclusive and looked the part. I purchased the V7 for the following reasons

1) shaft drive on a small bike that works flawlessly
2) symmetric exhaust - I love the twin pipes
3) Amazing looks
4) Lovely grunt and riding punch (love the agricultural tractor feel when the engine idles)
5) lots of DIY potential with easy access to the block.
6) Serious fan following and tons of history

both bikes are different but the NC has now become so common in the UK (which might not be a bad thing for parts availability)
I just thought I needed a change and something more exclusive..
