    Question regarding warmup

Forums to the rescue again...it seems that the fuel tank has been pressurizing in the heat. Once I release the air, the engine is aces. I'll look into the nuances in the above-referenced thread and also from tonUPRacer's experiences, as well. Thanks again, as always!

    Question regarding warmup

Well...I broke the cardinal rule of message boards. I forgot to search. I found this bit of advice from GT-Rx...which may help diagnose the problem. Will check this out next time. "Per what John says above, and by chance, was the bike in the sun for any duration when this happened? Either...

    Question regarding warmup

I feel like every post of mine revolves around an "issue" thus far...but, I don't view these as complaining about the bike. I look at it as more of a learning curve and education. I love my V7 and expected some hiccups periodically. So, my question is this: On cold startup (after sitting...

Loud whining/whirring in 1st...stuck in gear

Well, it makes me a feel a little better anyway...so that helps! Haha. I am hoping that it was an anomaly and won't present itself again. Just a little frustrating because I've been having issues with the same general area of the bike, so hopefully I'm just overreacting.

Loud whining/whirring in 1st...stuck in gear

Honestly, the sound caught me off guard, so I may not be describing it very well...it certainly wasn't as high pitched as belt slippage...maybe like a really powerful leaf blower? That might be more accurate. Also, if it is of any help...here is a youtube link to the amount of movement in the...

Loud whining/whirring in 1st...stuck in gear

So I, of the repeating gear lever issues, encountered another problem today on the way to lunch. As I downshifted at a stop sign, I thought to myself that the approaching car sounded awful and needed to have its belts looked at. To my dismay, I realized that the awful noise was coming from my...

    Not the best first post...sorry!

Yeah, it wasn't my first choice...but, since the new parts were doing the same thing, I went ahead and bit the bullet and dropped some red on them. The primer was key, I think...that and also making sure both parts were clean, of course. Now...on to another problem. I'll update this if the...

    Not the best first post...sorry!

Actually, as far as I can tell, the issue isn't with the heim joint/jam nut...the issue perpetuates itself where the heim joint meets the gear lever. Unless, you're suggesting that the issue I'm having is a derivative of an issue with the heim joint/jam nut.

    Not the best first post...sorry!

Well, so weird...bought a new lever and new ball joint so I could start from scratch...and it came loose after about 25 miles of riding. I think red loctite + loctite primer is the next step...

    Not the best first post...sorry!

Thanks guys. No odd vibration as far as I can tell. My guess is that the threads are shot in the lever. So, I'm looking at helicoil or replacement. I'll post updates just in case anyone else runs into this issue!

    Not the best first post...sorry!

Out of warranty, so I think I'm on my own on this one. Still wondering how common this is given, what seems to be, questionable design.

    Not the best first post...sorry!

****UPDATE**** Well, I came out of the office today and noticed that this problem had manifested itself once again. I can only deduce now that the gear lever itself is compromised. So, it seems I have several options here... 1. Replace gear lever and ball joint to get a clean start from...

V7 Registry & Picture thread -- ADD YOUR BIKE

Thanks! Honestly, I'm probably going to stay pretty stock. Bar-end mirrors, maybe? Against my wishes, I might have to paint the tank...I am experiencing the cracking issue I've read about on here.
