Nice suggestion, I will check it out.
I’ve also heard that some people put in second “ground” from the battery and run direct wiring from the battery to the starter “to combat issues” that may arise...
Is that really necessary?
The dreaded “no start” happened today
For some reason, I’ve been watching the battery voltage for the past three days, and it went down from 14.2v (with high beams and fogs on) to 13.8-9v. That’s the only thing that was off...
Tried to start it, after riding for 30 miles in 30C weather and...
Well, I knew it was bound to happen, and it did
Won a “free oil change” in a raffle from a local BMW dealership and decided to use it (regular service time was up anyway).
Called them to make sure they order correct stuff a month! prior. Stopped by and offered to write down exactly what’s...
I checked the coils, tightened every damned wire, and, after a couple of starts, the light went out. Been out for about 800 miles since.
This Italian sensitivity transferred to their motorcycles
When I used to ask, in Italy, for my pasta to be cooked longer, Italians would cry
After honking the horn a few times, the service/triangle message appeared again.
I remember, coincidentally, the first time error messages came on was after honking as well.
This time, the codes are ecu: 23 and 25...
This morning, I was ready to go over many things suggested by the forum but had to be somewhere first.
Started up, light and "service" were still on, a couple of stop signs and both warnings went out
Still need to check and replace fuses in aux lights for higher amperage...
The red triangle with exclamation point is still on after clearing as well as the word "service" (in caps).
Oil level is at max mark cold (no oil can light came on), and I filled the filter.
Of note: the right aux (fog) light is out. Also, the battery still reads 14.2v while riding. I did...
I am riding ways from home and the red triangle along with large letters SERVICE light up on the dash (right after I honked a couple of times).
Bike runs ok, no limp mode.
Ecu error 23
Dsb memory 08
Just did first maintenance 300 miles ago.
Thoughts?
I'm riding it home, 60 miles left!
Checked the oil level today, stone-cold, straight and level:
right at the max level on the dipstick, fully inserted.
Don't think I'm going to add any more at this time...
I really have to go back to Italy, you know, to clear up this confusion at the source!
In the forum's professional opinion, is small underfill less damaging than overfill?
Now, the only reason why I stated all quantities so precisely is using a surgical syringe as to not fiddle with a funnel...
When I did my first maintenance, at 966 miles,
the new amounts of fluids seemed inconsistent with the manual:
Carc 320 ml vs 350
Trans 540 ml vs 500
Engine 3200 ml plus filter vs 3500
The dipstick, right after the recirculation, showed the level in the middle.
After the first ride, it looked...
Before getting mine, I test-rode, in adventure class, BMW (850 and 1200), KTM (1190 and 1290), Ducati, and Honda.
After all that, I got the Stelvio without a test ride...
It is a Guzzi, has a transverse V-twin, an 8+ gallon tank, shaft drive, and built like a tractor–a gorgeous Italian-made...
I tried with both, John Zibell, running engine and just the on position.
I'll be able to give it another go after the holidays, traveling in a car...
Canuck, I will try your recommendation with varying touch durations once I get to the Stelvio again. I think, Bonaventure suggested the same...
It was all: on center stand in N, on side stand in N; just on, with engine running.
I'll be back home next week and give it another complete go.
Has anyone had anything similar happen?
Yeah, Guzzi motorcycles are full of "character"...
I tried a few ways, but it wasn't showing up. Very strange that it happened right after I did the maintenance
Tried to access the diagnostics menu to reset the little wrench service icon after 1st maintenance but it does not show up anymore.
Both trips and ATC are the only present options.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
