intermittent engine cutout on 01 California - 5/11 update

Re: intermittent engine cutout on 01 California - 4/8 update I was going to get an HD TPS but I have a dyno tuned PC3 and was concerned that it might effect the performance due to the slightly different curve. I managed to find a used PF3C from a ducati on ebay for 45 bucks and just today had...

intermittent engine cutout on 01 California - 5/11 update

Re: intermittent engine cutout on 01 California - 4/8 update Today was the first opportunity I had to work on the bike. Pulled the TPS and there is no opening to assure you are cleaning the pot. Just a couple of indents in the piece that mates to the throttle body. I did spray Deoxit liberally...

intermittent engine cutout on 01 California - 5/11 update

Re: intermittent engine cutout on 01 California - 4/8 update Put a DVM on the TPS in the parking lot. Saw no odd behavior on the voltage from 525mv at idle to 4.75V wide open. Reading went steadily up and down with throttle position. When I get home, I'll pull it off and spray it with de-oxit...

intermittent engine cutout on 01 California - 5/11 update

Re: intermittent engine cutout on 01 California - 4/8 update How do you clean the TPS? Isn't it a sealed Pot? At lunch, I'll stick my meter on the TPS and see if I see anything strange through the range. May be hard to see in a static condition though. Don't really see a logical explanation...

intermittent engine cutout on 01 California - 5/11 update

Re: intermittent engine cutout on 01 California - 4/8 update No VDSTS. Have always used a DVM for setting the TPS.

intermittent engine cutout on 01 California - 5/11 update

Re: intermittent engine cutout on 01 California. Couldn't ride on the weekend so rode in to work this morning. There was one slight surge a couple of blocks from my house and then it ran fine for the next 30 miles. Then all of a sudden it started surging pretty consistently for the next 10...

intermittent engine cutout on 01 California - 5/11 update

Re: intermittent engine cutout on 01 California. Found some of the HEET water eliminator and added it to the tank. Said to add the whole bottle but that it was good for 20 gallons. I added about a quarter of it to about 4 gallons. Also pulled all fuses and relays. Fuses checked good with a...

intermittent engine cutout on 01 California - 5/11 update

Re: intermittent engine cutout on 01 California. Since I use heated gear in the winter, I have a voltmeter. It's reading about where it always does without the heated gear on. Had not looked at any fuses but seems to me a flaky fuse would be something that would act up based on vibration or...

intermittent engine cutout on 01 California - 5/11 update

Re: intermittent engine cutout on 01 California. bike nite was yesterday and it acted up on the way home. Didn't ride it to work today. Tank hasn't been off since the fuel filter was replaced. Don't think I could have disrupted a coil wire but will have a look. Would any of the engine sensors...

intermittent engine cutout on 01 California - 5/11 update

Re: intermittent engine cutout on 01 California. Fuel filter replaced about 3000 miles ago with stock UFI. Fuel pump is original. I did fill up with gas after work and prior to the ride home from bike night. Didn't notice any water around the filler when the cap was off but I suppose that...

intermittent engine cutout on 01 California - 5/11 update

See last post for 5/11 update. A little background. Sunday before last, I did a 6 hour ride on my 01 Cal Special (with 50k miles) all on backroads ranging from first gear twisties to 100MPH straights. Bike ran flawlessly all day. Being spring, there are lots of bugs out on the central coast so...

    3rd Annual Visalia Not A Rally April 12-14, 2013

Hey Raf. Would love to ride with you guys. What time do you expect to be coming through Hollister? Have you been on Hare Rd before? I haven't for a few years, but if it hasn't been worked on expect horrendously bad pavement. Makes Indian Valley look like super slab.

    3rd Annual Visalia Not A Rally April 12-14, 2013

The weekend of April 13-14 has been set for the 3rd Annual Visalia Not A Rally hosted by David and Jamileh Pott. Come see the beautiful Sierra foothills in spring and ride some of the best roads in the state. Sure it may be cold riding over and it may even snow on you but it's all worth it once...

    It's Official! Visalia, CA Not-a-rally. April 13-15

Just an update that the Lamplighter is sold out for Friday evening. Still rooms available for Saturday. Alternate lodging at the Motel 6 down the street. Jamileh has reserved a half dozen rooms there for anyone interested.

Do I own a real Guzzi

I imagine there was a time when people said it wasn't a proper Guzzi cause it didn't have an exposed flywheel. Time marches on. Things change and in the case of Guzzi the changes have been for the better for the most part. Some people are just Dicks and not worth any of your concern. If it came...

    It's Official! Visalia, CA Not-a-rally. April 13-15

Last years Not-a-rally in Visalia was a great success (despite the difficulties getting there) so plans have been made for another. It will be the weekend of April 14-15 and will be at the Lamplighter Hotel just like last year. For those that did not make it last year, it was a great weekend...

    No more D205's? Any suggestions?

Thought I would dredge up this old thread to see what the former radial guys were doing now. Since upgrading the suspension on my California, I thought I would try a set. So, has anyone found a radial that worked as well as the Dunlop?

    Snorcal Not-A-Rally April 9-10 2011

In hindsight, the price wasn't too bad. 25 bucks and forced to ride the RC (I can still feel the battery) for the day. Well, I guess you have to add limping home also but all in all, I'd have to say I got off easy.

    Snorcal Not-A-Rally April 9-10 2011

Indeed it was a great time. Dave and Jamileh did a fantastic job of putting together a fun weekend for all who came from Northern and Southern California. It seemed everyone had an adventure getting there (rain, snow, wind, broken brake levers) Friday, but the weather was clear Saturday and...

    Snorcal Not-A-Rally April 9-10 2011

It's all back together except the silencers. Hoping to find time tomorrow to wash it and ride it to work and bike night on Monday. But there is still lots of Kitchen stuff to do also so who knows. It'll get ridden Monday clean or dirty. Assuming it's running ok, I'll be riding it next weekend.
