oil and filter for 2008 breva 1200 sport

I believe the Bosch 3330 filter fits your bike as well as my 1100. I got a cap filter wrench from a BMW motorcycle dealer that fits it perfectly. The Liqui-Moly should be fine—as long as it is full-synthetic 10W60, brand is relatively unimportant. Red Line for me, ordered from Jegs, but I also...

    grease?

bdcfe, Thank you for the list, I swiped it for my "big book of Guzzi hints." One question, what is not good about white lithium grease? Yes, there is a vast tube of it in my garage, mostly to use on the ball of my trailer hitch, but I wonder what to avoid with the stuff? Thanks, Tom

Are there any Griso Owners in Phoenix/Scottsdale Area?

I am no longer living in Phoenix, but when I was, the Guzzi breakfast had moved to the Denny's at Bell Road and I-17, 8:00 a.m. first Sunday if memory serves. One Griso is often there. I suggest you attend one and get on JJ's mailing list for events... and as you had found previously, they're a...

    New to me, Guzzi Norge

Beautiful. I love the Norge in white, that would be my "next Guzzi" of choice.

What did you do to your Moto Guzzi today?

I trucked my Breva 11 to The Motocycle Shop in Watertown, SD for a late-winter laying on of hands by the professionals. I do routine maintenance but believed it was time for a real Guzzi mechanic to have a look around the bike. Also finally having the Mana handlebar I bought long ago installed...

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!

Tony, Happy Christmas and a Joyful New Year back atcha. Enjoy your New Year's riding . . . I'm counting the days until I can get back on the Breva, and that's a lot of counting. Happy Holidays to all the other Guzzisti too! Tom

    Pannier screw question

The little rubber straps rot away pretty quickly. Get a couple O-rings from your local hardware store and you're good to go. They are more durable, too.

To buy or not to buy

As those wise men said . . . color is just so personal. I don't like black bikes, myself, yet I have a black Honda Pan-American, because that's what was available when I was in the mood. But that black Griso looks pretty damned good. Go with your heart, because it's a good motorcycle in any...

    Oils and Thoughts

Redline 10W60 and 5,000 miles in my case . . . I think the manual in my Breva calls for about 6,000 miles between changes. 5K seems to me a reasonable compromise between my money's worth and keeping the oil nice and fresh.

New to Moto Guzzi and to the forum

I bought mine used (so I'm envious). Great bike. My first Guzzi as well. Likes to be kept over 3000 rpm and does not mind revs. Handles very nicely. The centerstand and sidestand bolts will vibrate loose and vanish if not Loctited—but I imagine a good dealer will do this as part of the prep...

    Another failed BNS12 dash

My B-11's speedo plays up as Kevin.NZ has detailed—I always cover the gauge cluster with a high-tech shower cap when I get off the bike, as suggested on this forum. It doesn't take it long to heat-soak at all. It comes back to normal after a few miles of riding when that happens (if not...

    B11 in Coma

You're probably right about filling your own battery, Rafael. I would prefer to do it that way too but I was getting very price-sensitive after a very expensive Yuasa (from local dealer) died young on my Suzuki VX800. I think that was just a freak occurrence as I generally have good luck...

    B11 in Coma

I have Motocross batteries from batterystuff.com in my three bikes (and apparently available from other merchants, according to a quick search). Batterystuff says they are the same as Yuasas, same factory, etc. So far so good, and good prices.

    Bad Vibrations

I had a similar problem on my '06 Breva 1100, bought used. The front-brake lever pulsed very badly, especially at lower speeds, feeling like a badly warped rotor. Someone, somewhere on a Guzzi forum, posted that he'd cured his brakes' pulsing problem by using the brakes hard (which, so the idea...

    Breva speedometer failing?

Kevin, I did wonder if the hot sun had something to do with it. It was very hot and sunny in metro Phoenix yesterday. I've certainly had it out in the sun many times, but it was at its worst (the needle froze all the way to the top of its self-check movement) in a very hot parking lot. I'll try...

    Breva speedometer failing?

Thanks, John. That's what I did today when I got back home, and after several cycles it did return to zero. I had cycled it several times at stoplights without success. (Got her past 140 mph at one point!) If it will keep doing that, even if it takes several cycles, I'll be reasonably happy. I'm...

    Breva speedometer failing?

My 2006 Breva 1100's speedometer is playing up. After 3 or 4 engine starts (as in running around town) the speedo stops at 20 mph (usually) and sometimes much higher numbers. Wherever the needle stops is then "zero," so it will show, say, 95 mph at a true 70. It happened to me once on its...
