I did the research and basically learning that there isn't a shifting issue, I have to adjust to the bike by slipping (release slightly) the clutch or preload the shifter before the clutching when the box is cold. Pre down shift before coming to a stop. My current problem is getting from 1st to 2nd when cold, it seems to go away after about 10mins of riding.

one quote said:
"... With previous experience with Italian transmissions, it will take a lot of miles to get close to Japanese smooth and consistent shifting. It is just the 'character' of the bike."

My V7 has about 3500 miles on it and I also read that it gets better.... can anyone quantify that? Does it get much better at 10k, or smoother than a Japanese bike at 20k? When does this 'character' wears noticeably away?

Hello,
I have had the same problem on my V7 III, after the dealer change the oil transmission.
I rechange the oil transmission with a good 100% synthetiic oïl (Motul Motyl Gear 300 75W90) and since no problem from 1st to 2nd at cold.
Oil transmission have an effect, try to change, it's easy and not expensive.

I did engine, transmission, gear, oil change less than 100 miles ago. I use all synthetic, either Agip or Motul. I read it is common for V7 before they made some improvements in V7 II. This is one of the thread I have been reading. I have same issue on my 2012 V7.

one of the quote i find funny on that thread, I think if there's this much thought into how it SHOULD be shifted, then probably there is no viable solution to "fix" this issue, and rider will have to adjust to the bike.

"+1 TRUST ME- Rocker is dead on here. If you search for it- you'll find other threads about this with confounded small block owners. It's just how they work and it will become second nature. Ease the clutch lever out and apply a little pressure on the lever- you'll feel it snick in. If you just hold the clutch in and stomp on the lever, she will resist your crude advances!

Your toe will "learn" how to shift into neutral in time. It's actually a very rugged, well designed gearbox."

Please read above paragraph on hyperlinks to competing Forums. Let it be known that WG is for the uninformed whiners.
