I have recently started building a spare round barrel Le Mans engine from parts collected over the past two years and I went to fit the 88mm Barrels I had bought secondhand some while ago, only to find that one would fit and the other would not ?
on inspection it turns out that some bright spark has turned down the outside surface of one of the barrels to get it to fit the crankcase.
Now my dilemma is this,
1) is it ok to fit the barrel that has been turned down ?
if it is then i will get the same done to the other one and carry on.
2) if not and the previous work has ruined the barrel, can new liners be fitted easily ?
mine look like they are just cast liners, not chromed or plated.
any ideas welcome ?
