Calliper holding plate to swingarm retainer

Well that is what it is called in the downloadable V7C manual. It is the cap headed bolt which goes into the swingarm above the rear brake calliper. When I removed it to take the wheel out, it had spalled onto the swing arm and damaged the thread in the aluminium alloy. I would advise anyone to take out this bolt in their new V7 and put coppaslip on it.

By the way at 12000 miles the rear brake pads are worn out and the rear wheel bearings were shot.

Excellent service from Cupar Motorcycles in Bonnie Scotland who spotted the shot bearings and changed them for under £5 labour.

Thanks mate, one of those easy jobs to do that get forgotten and can end up costing a packet to fix, plus a whole lot of down time and inconvenience.
 
At around 17000 miles I heard a scraping noise from the rear( am very hard of hearing), and found the break pads totally gone and it cost me $350.00 for a new rotor(made out of gold) :shock: Also there is a V7C at Moto-Nexus in Hendersonville NC with a broken swing arm (broke on the right side).
 
Would this be the bolt mentioned?'

Goes off every time splines needs greasing, tire or brake pad changed.
 
At 12k miles I think you got good life out of the rear pads. Many have found the rears to be wearing prematurely.

But what's up the rear bearings? Got more details on that?

Hi, Joe.

The left hand wheel bearing was shot. Although it is a sealed bearing, there is very little other protection here, just an external rubber ring. Very disappointing. Fortunately the guys in the shop replaced the bearings on the spot for a bargain £18 all inclusive. Excellent service.

We have to query the quality of the dud bearing.

Mind you, I have been out in the rain a lot ---- its Scotland!
