Hi all,

I'm a new Guzzi owner, with a V7ii stone. Love it, except for one thing—when I start to release the clutch lever (I mean like the tiniest bit) it engages immediately and fully. My other bike (a monster) is considerably more gradual, and I—as a relatively new rider—am more comfortable with that.

Is there a way to adjust this?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Christina

Check the free play at the hand lever. It should be 2mm. Free play is the amount of travel to take up the movement of the external spring at the rear of the gearbox only. Take a look at the parts manual to see what I am referencing.

Okay, so I think the simple cable adjustment at the lever solved it. (Pretty sure, but I didn't have a chance to ride much due to visitors!)

Other problem I've noticed: idle is a little high. 1300-1400 is where it settles after startup. Feels slightly too high to me; how do I adjust idle a bit lower?

Specification for idle speed is 1250 +/- 100 rpm. It is controlled by the ECU - the fuel injection controller.
That's what it should be after the engine is warmed up after driving it 10-20 miles (not sitting in your driveway). Idle speed is usually higher right after starting the engine, before it has warmed up.

Any interest out there in the Magura hydraulic system? It replaces the clutch cable only, check it out at Magura.com. They offer specific kits for some bikes and instructions on how to build one for individual bikes not listed. I wonder if it may help the feel at the lever.
