guess this road......

Well, Daniel, I suppose the technical answer is that your photo might be as far as 444 miles away from mine. ;)

No, you are right, of course. It is, indeed, the Natchez Trace Parkway.

For those who do not know of it, see http://www.nps.gov/natr/index.htm

FWIW, my photo was taken on the "low end" of the NTP, probably only about 15 miles north of the southern start point.

Not a "race track" by any means, and no twisties, but it is a slow-moving sylvan delight. Too fast spoils it. Almost more a convertible road than a motorcycle one in some respects. Not challenging at all, but very, very pleasant.

Bill

You shouldn't need a clue for this one. Name the road across the top off the dam.

For a bonus point, name the year and model of that motorcycle (the rider is my dad--it was his bike).

Well Daniel, I've no idea where that is, and it seems no one else does.

Let's try another...

Well, Ian, I thought I'd been hogging play a bit, so I didn't vote on Daniel's.

I think it's Grand Coulee Dam. But, tho I've never been there, did not think there was a road on the top. Googled it a bit and still puzzled.

As for that motorcycle, I cheated, so I won't comment more. So ... Daniel, who is the cute blond in the photo above your dad on this one? ;)

Bill

P.S. Ian ... no clue on yours ... but I'm thinking.

I only know one dam in America and that's the Hoover dam, no idea what it looks like.

Interesting you'd mention just those. If you Google "Hoover Dam Dan Kalal" you'll know why this dam is important to me. As for Grand Coulee, my father grew up and went to high school in the small town just below the dam. His step-father was a construction worker on the dam. So I have a strong connection to both dams.

If you will permit a Virginian to offer a guess ... ... might it be Honister Pass?
Bill, you're funny... obviously the Stelvio Pass!

Embankment Rd, off Highway 75 across the top of John Redmond Lake?
My guess is that's a circa 30's tank-shift HD. My Grandfather below on his in '36.

Yeah, darn it.

I have been there several times, but did not think bigkev would make it that easy, so I figured it was in his AO.

Did some googling, and found a foggy shot of the HP, which bore enough resemblance that I went for it.

I have now been brought to the boat, thunked with a mallot, and am off to the market.

Yes indeed it is the Stelvio Pass, this is the western side of the pass.
