Heli-Bars for Moto Guzzi Norge...

I just got a set.
I would have thought, given the price, that they could have supplied stainless bolts rather than zinc plated.
Remember, here in the UK they cost the equivalent of 500 USD. The importers are a tad greedy, and Heli won't export to individuals.

Hi,

I would agree stainless would be nice, but the covers supplied help the cosmetics, I have bought a lot of similar ones from Harley and Triumph dealers, to fill in various Allen bolt heads, so keeping the edges clean and sharp, I find the risers money well spent, as I am now comfortable, the only drawback being the Guzzi tank bag hits on full lock, if turning right it turns on the hazard flashers !, however now I have a big top box and a pair of 30 litre panniers I can live without the tankbag.

The big improvement recently has been a BMC washable filter and the new Quill stainless end can, better all round performance, nice looks, even nicer noise, and 2 kilos lighter without the catalytic converter, a baragain at £200 fitted at their little factory.

Shame to see Buell being closed down, before I had the sense to go Italian I had a couple of Harley Sportsters, and always took a Buell as a loan bike whilst they were in for the 2,500 mile services/warranty work..... Fantastic fun, brilliant handling on back roads, and a shame to see an innovative/bizarre bike will no longer be made.

Hello

I opened this post, to see if it is still possible to buy the heli bars?
I am very interested !
also know, if they do not pose too many problems mounting on Norge?
I sent a mail to the shop, but no answers ? he is on vacation ?
Thank you in advance for your Enquiries

guzzyo.

guzziyo,

don't know where you are located but several on-line sellers have the Heli-Bars for the Norge or you can get them directly from Heli=Bars at www.helibars.com

As for fitment I forget the actual time but I think it was about half an hour to put them on my Norge. I think I spent more time reading the directions first.
They make a huge difference. I just returned from 15 days/5,155 miles (8296km) through Newfoundland and I was as comfortable as I could expect. I had a new Bill Mayer seat arive the day before I left so I did not try it on the trip but the stockl seat was tolerable with very little repositioning to get some blood down there. The bars sit you just about perfect.

thank you for your opinion very interesting !
but I use an online translator! not so obvious !

I am joining this thread a bit late but I do have a question:

I have sourced the heli bars for my 07 Breva 1100 (no ABS) and I know I need a longer front brake line (2" or 3cm longer, right?). However, I don't know how long it needs to be. (go ahead and laugh!)

The guy ordering the helibars that I am talking to has figured out that I need a new front brake line but needs the actual length of the new line.

So, could anybody with the Breva could help me out that would be great. Either a length or a manufacturer's part number.

Also, I understand that all the other cables work well; can anybody confirm that?

Thanks. My wrists and back sure will appreciate it.

Avoiding down time on the 'ol Breva aye?

All other cables need a bit of rearranging to avoid stretching them. I remember the extra length needed being 1 5/8", but it's been a few months. I still have the old line ('06 Breva) hanging on my garage wall so here are the dimensions. All dimensions are to the center line of the fitting.
From MC to T splitter: 15 1/4" (+1 5/8")
From T splitter to R caliper: 15 7/8"
From T splitter to L caliper: 19 1/4"

Galfer must have done a Breva line before because they angle of the caliper fittings were almost perfect. The Helibars come unfinished, meaning there's no coating, so if you want to avoid oxidation you can have them anodized. I just waxed them before installing, as recommended by the maker. Galfer could not provide rubber sleeves for the triple clamp brake line holder, so I used a small piece of clear fuel line.

I've noticed that my back does better after a long ride (several days). I think I would have gotten the same results from rear sets and would have liked them better, but haven't seen any on the market. Now I'm certain that a 1200 Sport would not work for me since they have the same foot controls.

Don't know about cost, but it looks as though the bar risers on the new 8v Norge will still fit the earlier models, and these are both higher and closer to the rider. Might be an alternative to Helibars?

Rafael and Brian, thanks for the help.

Basically I found these risers online: http://www.motobits.com/guzzi.htmn scroll down a bit. Cheaper than the Helibars but would they be enough?? That is the magic question.

I think (from all I have read) that I would not need new brake like if I did this. I might be able to even do all the work myself. However I sat on the bike and thought hard about it. I figured out that I would like the bars a bit farther back as well as higher. If I am going to go through all the effort. decided to go for the Helibars. This raises the issue of the new brake lines. . .

I have to say that of all the people I have contacted to just ask for help, this forum has been the most helpful. So thank you.

Muddy

Funny, you guys are in San Leandro and the UK (London, not Surrey) and I used to live in both.

Rafael,

quick question: when you ordered the brake line from Galfer did you have to specify everything or did they have an idea of what you needed.

In other words, if I called them up and said "07 Guzzi Breva 1100 no ABS, I need new brake line to fit my new Helibars" would they have an idea of what I was talking about?

Thanks,

muddy

I have a 2007 Norge that I installed Helibars bars on. I highly recommend them. They will give you a more upright relaxed position in the saddle. Yes $329.00 is a bit high but I don't think anyone will complain after they ride thier bike with these. I also installed a Skidmarx windshield and for me this was a huge improvement over the stock one. $100.00 well spent.

bsahdmg, I have an 2007 Norge as well. Did you find It necessary to lengthen the cables?

Brian,
I did not have to do anything to the cables or hoses. They are long enough. It is my understanding that "only" non ABS bikes need longer cables or hoses.

Hi all

Recently picked up a very nice 08 that would probably be even better with the heli setup.
Just thought I'd check to see if anyone might not like them or are selling their bike and may be thinking of
selling them. If so let me know.

Thanks
