Apologies if there is a thread on this subject elsewhere.

A few weeks ago, I fitted a filter, as above on my '17 V7 MkIII. The observations I am putting in here are entirely subjective as I never took any readings, ran a stop-watch etc. I should've fitted this filter ages ago! I fitted one way back to a Land Rover Diesel I owned at the time and the changes it made to that machine were very noticeable. And it really was a 5 min job including drilling a few extra holes in the air filter box lid. I fitted a pair of Agostini mufflers some time ago.

So here's what I think/feel:
Way more spread of torque. Previously it didn't feel happy pulling in top from 80Kms/hr. Now, if I choose to, it pulls cleanly from 60-65.
Acceleration seems much faster. As I say, it's subjective, but it flys!
Better fuel consumption. I was getting around 25kms/litre, now it's 27ish.
Smoother at small throttle openings, e.g. pulling around a slow bend or junction in town. It used to hesitate and snatch a little, now it just gets on with it.
I overtook a car doing around 90kms/hr and just wound the throttle open. Shot past and was doing 130kms/hr before I noticed. Yes officer, we were on a racetrack...............

So, it cost me a bit (here in NZ) but I reckon it's already paying for itself in terms of rider satisfaction! Go and fit one.

Hi Ken, thanks for the post, but I've lived in the "readings" for 20+ years now as to air/fuel data and the dyno. I would highly advise for you not to stick your head in the sand, and ignore the facts here; https://www.guzzitech.com/forums/threads/gtm-ecu-v7-v9-flash-tool.15044/ -- you risk doing significant damage to your engine with these mods and not revising the fueling. You can read the reviews of my work here; https://gtmotocycles.com/products/gt-motocycles-v7-v9-ecu-re-flash-tool

Didn't Todd make a filter cover or lid (something like that) for the V7 III air filters? I have this memory but cannot find a post related to it. A new air filter (K&N or DNA) is on this list for this winters upgrader and I want to do it right.

Also wondering if anyone has experience with the DNA filters as there are no reviews of them. I am wondering which is better.

Thanks Todd.
It's the next thing on my "to-do" list.

After over 50 years of wrenching on bikes and sports cars both professionally and as a passion I think that the "gains" with expensive air filters are nearly always illusory in the absence of multiple related air flow mods which can get very complex on modern ECU/EFI engines.

Any brand related MC forum will show numerous threads with respondents insisting that such and such a new filter has "transformed" their bike but curiously we hardly ever see any real quantifiable proof other than butt dyno reports.

I'm an inveterate modder, always have been, but I've learned that we tend to get so invested in our mods that we can ignore reality. On the other hand, as amateur hot-rodders in LA used to say "if I THINK it makes a difference, it does."
