Apologies if there is a thread on this subject elsewhere.
A few weeks ago, I fitted a filter, as above on my '17 V7 MkIII. The observations I am putting in here are entirely subjective as I never took any readings, ran a stop-watch etc. I should've fitted this filter ages ago! I fitted one way back to a Land Rover Diesel I owned at the time and the changes it made to that machine were very noticeable. And it really was a 5 min job including drilling a few extra holes in the air filter box lid. I fitted a pair of Agostini mufflers some time ago.
So here's what I think/feel:
Way more spread of torque. Previously it didn't feel happy pulling in top from 80Kms/hr. Now, if I choose to, it pulls cleanly from 60-65.
Acceleration seems much faster. As I say, it's subjective, but it flys!
Better fuel consumption. I was getting around 25kms/litre, now it's 27ish.
Smoother at small throttle openings, e.g. pulling around a slow bend or junction in town. It used to hesitate and snatch a little, now it just gets on with it.
I overtook a car doing around 90kms/hr and just wound the throttle open. Shot past and was doing 130kms/hr before I noticed. Yes officer, we were on a racetrack...............
So, it cost me a bit (here in NZ) but I reckon it's already paying for itself in terms of rider satisfaction! Go and fit one.
