Norge 2011 Cold start issue

Well, I bit the bullet and took a ride down to see Roper at Bungendore today, and I swear I rode a different bike down than I rode home, what a difference. Lets see tomorrow when I start her cold how it goes, but I'm absolutely sure it will be sorted.
Thanks a heap Pete

cheers

Tony,

it could be said that Pete is a "GOD" - but he might be embarrassed by that tag. I too rode down to see him some years back and there was no doubt about it, it was a different bike coming back so I took the long way home via Batemans Bay.

Many will attest that he "Knows His Shit"...

Glad to see it's sorted, engine-wise at least

The two issues I had with the Norge 2011 have both been sorted I believe.
The "Cold Start" issue, was simply a tuning issue sorted by the Wizard of Bungendore and the non starting issue as suspected was a problem with the starting switch. A new assembly has been ordered just in case

Thanks Pete

The switch issue was really weird. The symptoms it was displaying made me initially think it was a corrupt ECU but after taking the switch block apart and peering at it while scratching my ball and putting it back together the bizarre starting issue went away. I still have NFI what was causing it. The switch looked fine.

Anyway, I'm glad it seems to be sorted and I've warrantied the switch block anyway. I'll ping you when it arrives.

Pete

Hi Tony, I've had a similar cold start issue since new on my 2012 1200 sport corsa. Now I just give it a little throttle to start and after it fires; its all good for the rest of the day regardless. However if you did not give it a tiny bit of throttle to start, it would take two to three goes to start every time. I just figured it was a guzzi thing.... probably needs a bit of touch up from the wizzard of bungandore after reading various interesting threads from Peter, however I'm waiting till I get a few more Km's and then considering spending a couple of bucks while the exchange rate is still good and going the full treatment; removal of cholostomy bag, toddy box and megpipe and perhaps a copy of VTDS. My bikes been great for 5K thus far and gearbox is loosening up beautifully. However I'd love to take a few days off and make a trip of it to head south down to see Peter one day (if he'd be about) just for the fun of it and buy him a beer. Bit of a run from my place in Brisbane down to that neck of the woods, but hey its just a thousand corners away. What more could you ask for with a Guzzi to keep you company and the Australian countryside as your backdrop for a few days......! Hope you get it sorted, but im not losing any sleep over mine and loving the bike.
