Tesla Autopilot Crashes into and kills two Motorcycle Riders

Governments love this tech. It allows for happy little accidents. You know the type to get rid of undesirables! They will ban motorcycles due to the auto Pilot accidents!

I don't text. answer the phone or play with everything in the vehicle while driving...
Blinkers are used EVERYTIME I turn, get into the correct lane way before I need too, and in
my lifetime I have had 2 accidents both on South Dakota Winter days and nether
one resulting in really any damage to ether vehicle... And (knock on particle board) have never
gone down on a Motorcycle! Easy answer for all, when driving anything keep your mind on the
task at hand!

If the AI is the default setting when the vehicle is operating and it fails in use then it's the AI's fault but if it's driver selected then the driver will have to prove its not fit for use before claiming fault.

If it gets too complicated, the systems gives up, passing control back to the Driver…

“A NHTSA report on its investigation into crashes in which Tesla vehicles equipped with the automaker's Autopilot driver assistance feature hit stationary emergency vehicles has unearthed a troubling detail: In 16 of those crashes, "on average," Autopilot was running but "aborted vehicle control less than one second prior to the first impact."

It's like, "Here, I don't know what I'm doing anymore, take back controls, ya got a whoOOOOle second to avoid the crash. Not my fault, you were in control" LOL

I like the Granny aids on our BMW. When activated, it will drive for a minute hands free. It gives you time to look for your sunglasses, get the bee out of your shirt, grab another beer or whatever. ;) Full autonomous... no stinkin' way.

My wife's Lexus has driver aids and I tried momentarily lifting my hands from.the wheel whereupon it nagged me not to do so. It also advised me the detected speed limit was 120 which given nowhere in the UK has more than 70 ever was disheartening. I won't be rushing to adopt autonomous vehicles just yet and imo they should be illegal.

My Subaru Outback has EyeSight. It’s okay and has some cool features like speed sensitive cruise control, but I keep the automatic lane departure feature turned off. I do not like vehicles that take control of the wheel from me at all.

First time I encountered that was on a hire car in Massachusetts (sorry if the spelling is wrong!) My son in law and I thought it was a defect in the car. Fortunately the women had actually read the handbook and were able to tell us otherwise. Oops.

Auto pilot is a constant problem solving system but if you are not part of the problem, constantly, then there is no way to solve it.
Especially if the handover reaction time is 1 second.

120km/h =approximately 70mph

Um, I think the UK,is still using MPH on the highways…
120 = 193.12128 km/h

( That’s Crazy, there was a Hyundai Accent doing, what must have been 200 km/h on a toll road !
Do they think that toll = Speed limit free )
I was thinking the speedo was set to kp/h. Toll roads in the UK have same speed limits (I only know of one - M6 toll)

My speedo is mph. Whi would I have kph?

I thought the same thing.

Correct me if I am wrong but when I was last in Scotland and Wales driving, I believed all of the UK is in mph and I would presume so is Northern Ireland.

Only the Republic of Ireland is in km/hr in all of Great Britain, correct?

That's exactly the case. All of the UK which includes Northern Ireland uses miles per hour. None of this newfangled kilometres nonsense for us.
