Hi guys,

Im about to change tyres from the rennsport - what other tyre is giving good mileage on the griso?

Doc

On my G11 2v I use Michelin Pilot Road 2CTs. OK, I admit they're not as super-sticky as the Rennsports but they feel much more secure in the wet and last about 3 times as long. Maybe the G12 8v needs something sportier but IMHO for everyday riding the Rennsports were a bit wasted on the G11 2v.

Dunlop Roadsmarts have been working well for me. Longer life than the stock Metzlers my G11 game with (better grip too). Still not what I'd expect to be a "long wearing" tire though

The original Rennsports were awful.

I went to Z6's and was very happy on my 11, with the 12 the original tyres were so dreadfull I took them off seemingly almost unworn, (They promoted oversteer almost from day 1 and always velt 'edgy'.) at less than 2,500Km and replaced them with Avons which have been not only faultless but wear well. With the avons you also run VERY high rear pressures (46PSI!) and quite high, (38PSI.) front.

Works for me, but I'm a fat retard who rides like Gumby's great grandfather.

Pete

Hi Pete,

I just checked the tyres on my 8v, mez sportec M3. I rang my local bike shop and they mentioned mez 4 would work well on guzzies - thoughts? (at $240 for a rear its 50 bucks cheaper than z6, and $80 cheaper than BT 020s).

I just ordered a Pirelli Diablo Strada... My Rennsport lasted all of 3000 miles. We'll see how well it does after a couple hundred miles...

What pressures are you runnng with the RoadSmarts?

I thin k the mileage also strongly depends on many factors...

* riding solo or duo

* riding fast or relaxed

* and using small curvy roads or highways (and or straight roads)

You can double or triple the life expectancy of your tires depending on those three factors.

34 & 38. Could use them a little higher for wear though. I've been experimenting with suspension settings so my wear may not be typical.:S

I have 3,500 miles on some Sportec m-3's. Seems like I might get 5,000-6,000 miles out of them (that would be pushing it). I like the way they feel, but recently, it seems like the rear wheel locks up easier than it should. Then again, I am now riding in 35-50f temps at night on rural roads-harder for the tires to warm up, I suppose.

I had the Rennsports, and changed them at 7,500 miles. I assume the mileage was higher than others because I mostly ride at night in cooler temps on rural backroads. I don't know if that makes sense, but why else would they last so long?

I will +1 the Pirelli...Very sticky, probably not as high mileage as others. I got about 4K out of my set, but they were very flat before the tread wore out.... Too much "straight-line" driving in TX.

I agree Rdsmart a great tyre wet or dry weather ,i run mine 36psi front 38 psi rear 68kg rider .No idea about mileage but with this grip if i get over 3500 miles i would be well happy.

Uncle, how have your Pirelli Diablo Stradas been holding up?

So far they seem to be lasting better than the Rennsports. Good grip - average traction in the rain (as good as the Rennsport anyway). Overall I would recommend this tire as I would get them again...

Thanks. They seem to be priced competitively as well.

I got ~1200 miles out of the stock rennsports on my 4v griso, Todd E suggested Dunlop Qualifiers and I find these to be great tires, dont know how far they will go, but they sure go....

I loaded a Pirelli Diablo Strada on the rear and a Pirelli Diablo Rosso on the front of my last GRiSO and preferred that combo 10X over the Rennsports. As soon as I can chew up the Rennsports on GRiSO #2 I'll be Pirelli shod once again.

The second time around I'll be trying a Diablo Corsa 3 up front though.

I am not a fan of the Rennsports at all. I felt much more planted on the Pirellis.

Just put on Battleaxe's BTo16's, a triple compound hard in the middle, softer as you go over and super soft at the edge....Great idea in concept, but in reality, only time will tell. Barely scrubbed them in at the moment, 80mls only. I went from renn's, to pilot sports barely 2200-2500mls on each. Front's held up better, but like to run tires sets. I'm hoping i'll get around 4 maybe 5 thousand from these and i'd be happy (fingers crossed).

Your tire's should reflect your use. I live in SoCal, little or no rain, twisties all day long. I'm looking for a soft long lasting tire (if there is such a thing). I lived in England until i was 30, so know the roads and weather well. Go for a good wet, dual compound tire. I've been a fan of Bridgestone for a while, used to run them in England, so was drawn to them when looking for a dual/multi compound.

I go for a more sports orientated tire as opposed to a touring tire, but thats my style of hard canyon riding. I narrowed down my choices to pilot power 2ct's or bt016's. Went with Battleaxes because of my experiences with Bridgestones before, but time will tell if i made the right choice.
