V7 Classic - Loud squeal following 9k mile service

Hi Nick, did you get this sorted? Got the same problem with my v7 Stone 2012. Dealer said it could be the starter motor sticking. Only starts after sustained high rpm and only happens in 1st 2nd and 5th gears

The sound does sound very similar to the issue I encountered with my V7 Classic. I have not personally experienced a starter motor failure in car or motorcycle that sounds like your video (I'd expect clicking w/ no start or a grind, vs. a squeal, but I'm no expert, I suppose it's possible). My particular issue was the throwout bearing/assembly, and occurred following a scheduled service in which the clutch lever cable was mis-adjusted at both handlebar and transmission. They first replaced just the cable, but ended up replacing the entire assembly (bearing and related parts).

There's a great visual step by step walkthrough of the replacement process here:

Sadly, my prediction about Moto International going under came true. I don't know that it was directly tied to the failings in the service department, but it couldn't have helped. Seattle is now without a dedicated Guzzi dealer, which really stinks having had one of the best regarded dealers in the country for so many years.
