I know this topic might have been dealt with, but maybe not with the V7. So ...
After 1000 miles on the new bike driving at 60mph I will suddenly get a high pitched whistle which quicky develops into a kind of a whine or screech. Loud. At first I think its a weird helmet noise, but no. I quickly slow down and pull over, all the while the noise continues until stopped. When I start back on the road the noise is absent, but then in 20 min it starts again. This has happened twice. It's very hard for some reason to determine where this is originating from. It seems to be induced not by the motor but somewhere in the drive train. I guess I am reassured that it is not the gearbox since this is an intermittent noise. This noise is much more than the acceptable slight whining and usual noises of a bike.
I thought maybe clutch. At idle it seems a bit louder and "clackier", even for a dry-clutch system. Another clue - when I roll the bike with the motor OFF in neutral I hear what I think is a new sound, that is - a very soft high pitched "whine" even at 1/2 mph rolling speed. I can imagine this sound becoming the loud sound. It is similar but faint at this low speed. Brakes? A brake pad contacting the rotor when it should be fully dissengaged?
I know its hard to offer advise with the sketchy descriptions I've given but I thought it was worth to see if any one can offer any enlightenment at all. I've read some of the threads regarding a similar problem, but there seem to be some differences - including my sound happens at highway speed - not at clutch engage take-off for example. Thanks in advance.
