I have been shopping for a bike with my friend, and he has somehow has become intrigued with Guzzi's🤷‍♂️.
He found a lovely looking 2017 V9 Bobber with under 1300 miles and brand new looking Augustini exhaust, no scratches, dings or dents. It is in a used bike area of a large multi-brand dealership (not Moto Guzzi). We went to go look at it and hoped for a test ride (This dealership is great for letting people test ride). This bike was up in service getting a new starter switch. They attached the new switch but now it is not reading the key so it will not start. They said they may have to send it to the nearest MG dealership for repair (200+) miles away. I suspect it is because the MG programming is proprietary.
So all this said, I'm not 100% confident they are on the right path. I do wonder what could have caused such a low mileage bike to have these issues.

Your intuition is correct. This is a problem for most shops that don't know Guzzis. Are you referring to the keyed ignition switch, or the bar mounted kill switch? The '17-20 V7 Mk III & V9 are not RFID keyed. Only the big block CARC models and 1400s. If he's willing to wait for them to resolve it for a good price, he should hold, otherwise there's likely others out there. You should have him read up here.
BTW, you should read up on the correct spelling and who makes the exhaust; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duilio_Agostini & https://www.guzzitech.com/forums/threads/alis-and-lindy-agostini-move-on.2546/
