We will work on the ECU mapping itself next week, but we always prefer to use this as a base for the PC6/AT-300 sold HERE. Let us know below if interest and we'll create a full kit purchase with the GTM BT FT & PC6/AT3.
Final pull on MotoMan's dyno break-in procedure, completely...
...rode it only outside of the town and variated the throttle, sometimes going near to the redline, engine braking etc. I tried to follow up the MotoMan's technique. I tried to avoid as much as possible to keep a constant RPM more than 1-2 minutes.
Do you consider it as fully bedded in at this...
Break in has been well covered here; https://www.guzzitech.com/forums/search/18021926/?q=motoman&o=date&c[user][0]=57 - top link.
Yes I offer all service and related in Orange; https://gtmotocycles.com/pages/service
Assume you mean gas filter? Yes is the answer:
I am familiar with Motoman, and attempted to apply this technique to my new BMW 1200 GS in 2005. The first difficulty was that from the dealer on one side of the city to the mountains on the other side, on my way home, was 90 minutes of riding where full throttle runs were not possible. I made...
...@ 550 miles total on the bike since delivery on Aug 29th and this thing *moves*. Granted, been doing the proper break-in more or less the motoman technique except I respect the factory suggested 6500rpm rev boundary.... mostly.... but giving it strong accel followed by bleeding off the...
Even more time to enjoy those sweet spots! I can't believe how much of a difference it makes through the corners to keep the engine in the upper region of the rev range. Bliss.
Alternatively, to paraphrase Todd (https://www.guzzitech.com/forums/threads/v9-first-service.16968/#post-127264), MotoMan's research for breaking in engines advises: Run it hard!
But otherwise I agree that the V7 likes the mid and upper RPMs though the corners!!
...The base and head gaskets are metal on the V9, so re-torque (theoretically) not needed. Nothing changes post run-in, just that Guzzi does not recommend full throttle running during break-in, but I subscribe to MotoMan's research HERE. I raced on fresh-built motors, and there's no break-in had.
I have a slightly differing opinion on just a few of these points.
Valve Clearances - Do we REALLY think the factory doesn't set the valve clearance before shipping? It's NOT on the factory pre-delivery inspection list and I'm not sure how many of the "good shops" would bother to check that for...
...a few times. Use the entire rev range in the lower gears, and don't baby it or hold it at steady throttle for any extended period of time. MotoMan's break in procedures (Google it) will give you evidence of a good hard break in. After a tank-full of fuel, I'd ride it like it's ready to go...
...the clutch. That would over rev the engine. Try and stay under 5500 or 6000 rpms, whatever was recommended in your owner's book.
That's how I break my engine in. I've heard some guys do what MotoMan suggests. It's important to load and unload the rings. Do that and the engine will run well...
...don't know how well it'll work. I figure it just has to be better.
What I did with my bike upon receiving it was give it a good run-in per Motoman's method and then changed the oil. This first oil change occurred at about 30 miles on the ODO. I then changed the filter and added a total of...
